No rematch clause needed for the Dubois fight with a belt on the line but one needed for the Prenga fight .
That's irrelevant. One-way rematch clauses are a cancer to boxing which punishes those who don't have big promoters backing them.
AJ has probably had a rematch clause for every fight over the last 10 years. Not really the shock you think this is.
Then Hearn admitted there was no rematch clause, Warren then offered Hearn the immediate rematch but Hearn never accepted it . https://fightsatw.com/eddie-hearn-confirms-no-rematch-clause-for-dubois-joshua/
Far too much money involved with the Joshua v Fury fight to potentially have it derailed with a riskier opponent and it’s as simple as that imo .
I honestly don't know. Maybe so AJ can feign looking bad to lull Fury into a false sense of security? Or because the Saudis really believe he's incapable of beating anyone else prior to Fury? Either way, it doesn't look great.
I think his management understand that he's always at risk for being destroyed by a top 20 type operator. It happened against Ruiz, but they did a great cover up job by winning the rematch against Obese Andy, installing the new talking point that it was a fluke.
Hearn got caught out here When. Pushed further it turned out he had another fight contracted with Rhyiad season and that the Dubois rematch was a possibility Not actually contracted
It's not irrelevant I agree the majority of times such clauses are annoying but what I said is true for the most part
