What happened with Foreman's power after 1994?

Lewis's superior speed and timing certainly come into this, as does that fact that Briggs went balls to the wall against Lewis but fought a cautious, defensive fight against Foreman.

With that said, fighters generally give the highest praise to the ones they beat.

 

I thought at the time and still do that something happened with Foreman’s right shoulder around this point.

He’s unable to deliver the right straight from the shoulder, as he did with Moorer, and from some point soon after that fight was kind of flailing with it from the rest of his career.

Watch Big George throwing the right vs, say. Holyfield and Moorer and watch him post-Moorer and I think you will also see it.

Never seen it addressed nor him ever asked about it, but it’s visible.

 

His balance seemed to be going a bit. Not sure he was as set for his punches as he was a couple years earlier. He got kinda stiff legged. Mix in even a minor amount of movement from his opponent and he was always playing catch-up.

 

He had fulfilled his need to save his youth center and ministry so what God had re-installed god then took away.

 

He can be beaten by Regent Retirement.

 

Fighters always do that. They claim the “hardest puncher” they’ve faced just happens to be someone they beat, rather than one of the people who actually beat them.

 

This. It isn’t that the power is gone, that doesn’t leave. His age sapped his reflexes and therefore his timing.

It does surprise me to read he never scored a knockdown after Moorer though. Wouldn’t have guessed that.
