His 3-year retirement is a reasonable place to draw a line the sand, though I suspect he'd began to fade by the Turpin fights and certainly by the Graziano fight.

It could be the distinction between his peak and his prime, though. I'm certain he was past peak by Graziano and Maxim. It's subjective as to whether he was past prime by then.

We're in agreement that obviously everything post return from his 3-year hiatus is post prime.

 

I actually found a quote from the man himself in some old paper going into the Maxim fight where he himself was saying something along the lines of not feeling quite he was before.
But he was tired and wanted out by that time.
He still looked deadly vs Rocky.,Finished him off quick and blazing and controlled most of the fight.That no count KD was a catch but it wasnt that bad.
