The way the sport is structured fighters have to climb a ladder. And most of the ladder is old people with a few 20 somethings.

The division is very heavily clogged up as well.

He should try and challenge Charlie Z for the Z-Belt or whatever it is called these days.

I was going to say to the OP that Mike Tyson wasn't fighting top tens after 14 fights but what's the point. He's disgusted with Itauma lol.

If that was his strategy, someone else is going to come along and batter them into retirement before he does as they won’t go anywhere if nobody forces them out the door, such is the long tradition of boxing. So he best at least take some scalps out before someone else emerges as the heir apparent.

Whether they or not they have to climb the ladder. Like all these old people were at their peak at 28 they did not get the chances. Them being in their peak didn't do them good because the politics weren't politicing.

No but then Tyson had over 30 fights including winning an defending a world title a couple of times by the time he was the age itauma is now an in half the time too so you really ought to stop with the Tyson comparisons

Do you think itauma will be comfortably in the top 5 before he is 28? If your answer is yes then you have proven my point

He could be but theres nothing comfortable about it. Its not a sure thing. He could lose to a number of top guys. Hence the "waiting out".

I asked you do you think he will be ranked top 5, a simple yes or no is all that is required. Of course loads of permutations can happen, he could die in the next 5mins.

But I'm asking do you think itauma will be in top 5 at any time in his career before he is 28?

    Yes or no.

    Spot on.

They're taking it slowly with him, nobody denies this.

But it's also not really that unusual.

    The question is why...

It's true there are unanswered questions - with his chin and stamina especially. That allows for theories about being protected and milked before it's too late - and because that's happened before, it's plausible.

But it's just as plausible that they're happy with the rate his reputations growing at.

Lads like this can polarise fans - some will rate them far beyond what they've done yet, some will wait to see what the prove, some will jump the gun and pan them hard prematurely. Two of these three have the potential to be proven wrong.

He very well could be a fraud, but I doubt his whole strategy is waiting for guys to age. He still needs quality wins before being ready to challenge for a title. He is what? 21? Rushing into a title fight could ruin him.
