I don't think it can happen. The fact is that boxers just don't fight that often. There is a reasonable chance that if a man was a champ for a decade he would not make it to 30 title defenses.

it will only matter if that 'someone' indeed has 30 Top Scalps as the champion and/or among a number of top fighters...

I mean, there are many ABC Belt heroes, where every fight is for a title and the ones that weren't were just as great of a win.

I still can't get my head around how people support & regurgitate such nonsense... Fight 'real' opponents who 'might' be actually capable of beating you, real fighters, contenders & champions.

It could happen with the likes of another Tyson or this new killer Itauma, where someone gets a HW Title fight in say his 7 - 12th fight,

then defends it 3 times a year in the modern manner where every fight a World title affair...

Stop this nonsense that Wlad came close. His WBO defences is not comparable to actual title defences.

With so few undisputed/lineal champions today and so few defences a year, no one is likely to get close to even Ali's 19 until this changes.

As always context would be required. It would depend on the quality of opposition and whether he was widely recognised as the champion or a meaningless ABC titlest.

No, I don't think we'll ever see 30 x consecutive title defences at HW, either of the title or an alphabet strap.

 

Depending on how you see Wlad's status in the division he had either 18, 13 or 11 defenses. Still a lot. And he did beat 15 Top 10 guys over the course of his career. Only Ali, Louis and Holmes beat more.
