Much as I love Ezz I just can't see him defeating a prime smokin Joe.

But is Charles durable and skilled enough to go the distance with him?
Or would Joe's pressure and body work force a stoppage?

Btw if you do think Charles beats prime Joe, well that's a different matter..

I don't think so, I think Frazier would break him down

I do too, unfortunately because I like Charles and respect his grit and determination.
Yes he went 15 with Marciano but to me Joe's a different machine.
Charles would look good early no doubt but he won't make it to the end.

He could last the distance IMO, as Charles would be the best fighter outside of Ali and Foreman that Frazier shared a ring with. But Frazier stopping Charles before 15 isn't out of the question. I do think Charles could make it 10 or 12 rounds.

He went 15 with prime Marciano, I think he could go 15 with Frazier.

He 100% would of. I love Joe but there is some serious overestimation of his power going on. And no 1-handed fighter is going to trouble the master scientific boxer that much. I mean, I think Joe would be favored, but not by any blowout.

Prime Charles had a great shot at beating him. Probably the most underrated fighter on this platform.

Prime Charles was mid-1940's Charles, a guy who weight 170-175.

    No chance.

No way. Frazier had way too much power for Charles and Charles wouldn't be able to keep off Frazier for long. He might succeed in the early rounds but eventually Frazier will catch him with his hook and when he does it's all over for Charles.

Frazier was a pocket slugger which are bad matchups for boxers. Note while Frazier was easily disposed of by Foreman he was able to defeat the man who outboxed and defeated Foreman. Thats because when the boxer fakes and feints and finesses a pocket slugger it’s minimally effective causes the slugger is quick and is coming fast and firing punches at you no matter what and moving unpredictably. Frazier wore out guys similar to Charles see Jimmy Ellis Bob Foster Doug Jones Eddie Machen. He even beat a much bigger yet quicker version of Charles in Ali. Frazier is too heavy strong relentless and overwhelms the prime 1949 Charles inside 6 rounds. Charles lands but Frazier shakes it off and pounds the much lighter Ezzard.

Hi Fergy. I see Ezzard's strylish boxing building up an early lead but Joe eventually breaks Charles down to force stoppage around the tenth.

It's an open bet. Charles went 15 hard rounds with Marciano. By the same token Frazier had Ali in deep trouble at one stage in FOTC and dropped him late. I wouldn't argue against any outcomes except silly ones projecting an early KO.
