Fighters Getting Praised for Essentially Getting Their Ass Whooped?

    The big example of this for me is Ali vs Wepner. He was a boxing bag for 44:45 while cheating like a rat the whole way through and a whole film franchise got started off of this?!

    Wepner scored a KD also which was super rare against Ali. Ali swept the final 6 rounds but at that moment it would have seemed like an incredible fight.

    The knockdown was bogus, Wepner was standing on his foot. Plenty were fooled tho, including the ref.

    Woulda, shoulda … if he only coulda.

    He had Lennox in the same ring with him. If he had it in him to beat Lewis, seems like that would have been the time to do it.

    Maybe not letting the guy punch holes in his face would have been a start.

    Vitali WEVT Lewis is number one with an absolute bullet.

    But I remember Danny Williams getting many cuddles for taking that pasting off Vitali tbf.

    Wasn’t necessarily praised for his ability but Tex Cobb seemed to get a lot of notoriety from getting shoutout by Holmes. He was on the Tonight Show after that etc. I guess you could say he lasted the distance and took his a.. whooping like a man.

    Wepner was a joke a punching bag, and the "knockdown" was not legit. Guy was a joke.
