I don't think anyone else will be doing this, so I might as well get this started. On DAZN, Commonweath and European 140lb title on the line in the main event. Sam Noakes, former lightweight title challenger on the undercard in his comeback fight. Dylan (Oke) Adebisi won a decision over 200 fight veteran Jordan Grannum to go to 4-0 (1). 59-55 on the ref's card over six. Oke's style is herky jerky and kinda disjointed but he's got a bit of speed and managed to feed Grannum just enough leather to convince him to go into away fighter mode after a positive start. Grannum landed some occasional single shots, had a pretty good fourth, and provided the professional resistane he's known for. Still, the outcome was never in doubt.
Jawad Ilyas scores a four round decision over Argentine journeyman Jose Exequiel Sanchez to go 2-0. 39-37 on the ref's card, with Sanchez probably taking the final round due to aggression. Mutt and Jeff match with the taller Ilyas controlling with the one two. The shorter Argentine was pretty game; he kept plugging forward and kept his arms churning. Didn't land a whole lot of consequence but he made it entertaining.
It was a pleasure to work Grannum’s corner this evening, he’s a legend in the British fight game. High production show for the York Hall by Top Tier. Let’s go Sam Noakes in the co main
Henry Turner goes to 16-1 by obliterating Mark Andrejev, now 6-6-1 with a disgusting left hand to the body. The Estonian, who had never been stopped, immediately dropped to his knees and was counted out at 2:14 of round one. Pretty impressive from Turner; would be interesting to see how he fares against some other domestic guys like Harry Scarff or Owen Cooper next.
I saw a couple of YT features on him, and he comes across as being really cool. Been a decent card thus far.
Round 1. Moyo comes out aggressively, and the shorter southpaw does have some success, landing a nice right hook to the head and a stiff jab off a feint. But Masuro landed a few more eye catching counters, particularly a couple of uppercuts that backed off Moyo for a moment and generally controlled more off the action. 10-9 Masuro
Round 2 Masuro seems more intent on coming forward, but Moyo, though shorter appeared to control range a bit better on the outside and landed a few glancing lefts to shade the round on my card. 10-9 Moyo 19-19
Round 3 Masuro now exclusively on the front foot, working the right and the uppercut. Moyo going into Drunken Master mode, making Masuro miss drmatically and at one point landing a flurry. But Masuro was certainly more active and he did get home with a few uppercuts to take the round. 10-9 Masuro 29-28 Masuro
Round 4 Moyo comes back nicely, flurrying effectively to the body, moving in and out nicely and generally outboxing his slower opponent for the full three minutes. 10-9 Moyo. 38-38
Round 5: A few seconds after the start of the round, Masuro connects with a long right hand that freezes Moyo, followed by a couple of uppercuts that have Moyo backing unsteadily to the ropes. Masuro begins to unload the clip, lands one right hand and then a clean right hand that snaps back the head followed by an uppercut just as the ref steps in. I guess the stoppage is slightly...British...but I've seen worse. Masuro TKO 5!
It was definitely questionable. Moyo was taking some punishment but I would have let him have a couple of seconds to see if he could have regrouped. He had done well enough to that point to earn it. Better too early than too late, though.
