I can tell you why. Because he had the opportunity to fight Benavidez when Benavidez called him out years ago when Canelo was very much in his prime at lower weight divisions. Canelo always denied Benavidez the opportunity. But Canelo waited for GGG to get old before he would fight him. It's one of the things I always despised about Canelo. He always waited until a fighter was either too old or got them when were too young, or got exposed by a KO in their previous fight, or there was some funky weight clause in the contract. It was always something. Whereas, Benavidez has always taken on all comers. He has fought guys in their prime. Fought the guys no one else would fight. Like him or not, he is a great fighter.

I thought Ramirez would win as well, due to the size discrepancy. But I don't understand your criticism of Benavidez. Morrell, Yarde, and Andrade were all very good fighters. No one wanted to fight Andrade. And Morrell is a very good fighter. I remember this same kind of criticism being aimed at GGG when he was stopping previously unbeaten fighters. GGG and now Benavidez make good fighters look average.

Glanton is durable. I doubt Bena stops him.

Let's not forget Benavidez knew exactly what was going to unfold, having sparred some 200 rounds with Ramirez. That should have told me/us all we needed to know.

I would favor him to beat Bivol. I would give the slight edge to Opetaia.

Nobody wants a third fight though people overwhelmingly would prefer Bivol face Benavidez

Bivol is an ultra mover and the most defensively responsible fighter arguably of all time. He isn't hanging around to eat 10 punch combos. Whatever he actually is there for won't get through. And he's been in with one of the most murderous punchers at sub-HW that we've ever seen in Beterbiev and never got in trouble. A flat footed fighter like Benny? Bivol dances around him and works him. A stoppage? Nah. A 9-3 or better UD? Absolutely. Freaking Caleb Plant won the first five or six rounds against this guy until he predictably ran outta gas.

Benevidez looks best when he has a willing victim. Someone dumb enough to stand in front of him and not move. Reminds me a lot of Kabayel. All that beautiful body work Kab does works because he's got plodders in front of him who can't laterally move. Bivol ain't that.

I'd love to hear your reasoning, though. Maybe I've missed something.

Oh, damn. We're back to using triangle theory? Foreman smashed Frazier who beat Ali therefore Foreman smashes Ali! Genius!

One fight means nothing. And it's clear you didn't actually watch the fight and know nothing about Glanton. Dude spars with Beterbiev. He's a tank. Jai still beat him up so bad he was looking like a Klingon after the fight. 119-106 across the board. It was a complete ass whooping. Plus, the ref was abysmal and killing all the inside fighting Jai wanted to do.

I mean, if we're gonna play this game then Benny didn't stop Plant, an ancient back out of retirement Gvozdyk, and he couldn't stop Morrell while getting seriously wobbled and knocked down. I guess Benny sucks, huh?

I think Bivol is a bit of a bad style match up for Benavidez aswell due to the reasons you stated.

Bivol being a very good mover and Benavidez would have to keep resetting and not be able to plant his feet and wail away with his combinations.

You're delsional if you think Opetaia is better at cuserweight than bivol at light heavy. Opetaia best win is Bredis by a coutntry mile, who did lose a competive desion to Uysk but also should have lost to Noel Mikaelian(huge robbery). Is Mikaelian a god a cruiserweight, because he beat Bredis, give me a break. Opetia hasn't done anyting to or anyone to consider him better than Bivol. Bivol beats Benavidez 8/10 times, Opetaia hasn't show me anying to make be believe he beats Benavidez more than 5/10 times.

And you didn’t answer my question. Why are you already complaining that Benavidez is “ducking” if he doesn’t fight Opetaia next? Benavidez has made it crystal clear he wants a fight with Bivol at 175. Let him do that. Opetaia fans cry too much. Yes, Opetaia had sh*t opportunities at cruiserweight, but that doesn’t make him the king of cruiserweight. He might be number one right now, but he hasn’t cleared the division. If he were smart instead of fighting bums, he should fight bums highly ranked by each belt organization and get a high ranking where he can fight eliminators for mandatory. Fight the best to be the best.

Glanton is a journeyman can. Jai looked average against him. Is what it is.

    Benny beats Glanton easily

Morrell is a hype job (should have lost to Khataev and Kalajdzic). Yarde was also a hype job and isn’t great (just solid). Andrade was overrated because he didn’t have a single great win and was an average middleweight champion. But again, I like David Benavidez, and I still rate those wins as solid. People were acting like he was p4p off those wins, which I don’t agree with.

It could be a boring fight, if Bivol is on his bike most of the time. When he stops to exchange, I think Benavidez gets the best of it. There are similarities between GGG and Benavidez. They want people to stay in front of them because they know they will break them down. However, smarter, better fighters won't comply. Even so, eventually GGG and Benavidez wear their opponents down. The fight that would be absolutely incredible is Benavidez vs Beterbiev. Unfortunately, Beterbiev is fading. What a fight that would have been four years ago.
