Clown? Your posts are an utter embarrassment. Utter cringeworthy garbage that make people’s eyes bleed. Nobody would have an issue, if you wrote something like “They were both tremendous fighters, but I believe that Floyd was better because…” Yet we don’t get that. No. What we get, is: “Mayweather was LEVELS above, and it’s not CLOSE” WTF?? If you’re not trolling for some attention, you should be utterly ashamed and embarrassed of yourself. Do some research. Look at his incredible skill set. Look at his wins. His crazy schedule. The calibre of opposition he fought. When he fought them. His longevity etc. Floyd DID NOT fight his schedule. Floyd DID NOT fight the same calibre of opponents. Apply CONTEXT. You’re talking about guys like Burley and Marciano etc. Floyd would never have signed a contract to have fought Burley. Against Marciano, Archie was in his FORTIES, where he’d fought around 180 times! Think about that for a second. Floyd took 18 month vacations from the sport. He never fought a prime ATG in his life. He was a calculated businessman, who ended his career with safe fights against Andre Berto and an MMA fighter. Archie Moore ended his career fighting a young Muhammad Ali. Imagine a 45-50 year old Floyd, with a 200 fight resume, fighting a young Roy Jones. They lived on a different planet. Floyd could not have remained undefeated fighting the fighters that Archie fought, for as long, following that same schedule. What did Archie do better? He had a much more varied offensive arsenal, and especially when he’d moved up the higher weights. He had elite skills, and along with Benton and Charles, he was the pioneer of the style that the Mayweather’s themselves adopted. You are so out of your depth here. You are like a drowning man at sea. But one full of complete ignorance. Go and do some research on these greats of the past.
Had his number? Okay. But we’re talking about PRIME versions of Ezzard Charles, Floyd Patterson and Rocky Marciano. Ezzard Charles is probably the GOAT at LHW. Ezzard Charles is a top 15 ATG fighter. Floyd fought NOBODY on the level of Ezzard Charles. Again, Rocky Marciano fought a mid 40’s version of Archie, who’d fought almost 200 times. Look at the stylistic match ups. Floyd did not fight those tough stylistic match ups. Floyd did not fight guys as good. Floyd did not fight at that age, with that mileage. Again, CONTEXT.
1. You are completely ignoring the SPECIFIC versions of those guys who Floyd fought. 2. You clearly have no idea who those guys were who Archie fought. I’m going to hope for your own sake that you’re just trolling here for a joke. Because if not, I’d be too embarrassed to take this any further. Caveman Bivins?
Again, zero context. Put Floyd in with the equivalent of a Rocky Marciano, and in his 40’s, after nearly 200 bouts. Then what?? Put him in with some prime BMR fighters. Put him in with Burley. Put him in with Marshall. Put him in with the equivalent of a Patterson. It’s very easy to look good against a Gatti in your 20’s, compared to the guys who Archie fought. Give us a laugh, and tell us the best 3 guys who Floyd ever fought.
I get it. I don’t think Floyd leaves without a few Ls if he had as many fights as Archie did. But I’ve never seen a man be able to do what Floyd did against good to great competition
Imagine Archie Moore but with Mayweather's stack of anabolics, EPO, painkilling injections and the infamous money team IV drip on standby. Moore would probably be P4P ranked until he was 70 years old
I think he'd be the first person to reach immortality, outright "You can spend the rest of your life with me, but I cannot spend the rest of my life with you"- Archie "The Doctor" Moore.
I'm not trying to be a smart a** or demeaning, but why did it take Ezzard 68 fights to get a title shot? I know that he fought in multiple divisions and had a few hiccups along the way, but 68 fights is a long time. I understand he beat some of the world champions before they became champion, but still don't understand why it took so long. Any idea why he didn't try to get a MW or LHW shot?
Management, politics, etc. Ezzard is the GOAT imo. Took Archie a much longer time to get a much deserved title shot and he didn’t get paid for it. He basically fought Maxim for free.
He struggled to stay below 160, often making his best wins 'there' not account to his ranking - and the title was frozen anyway. He went to the military and put weight on while he was there, which is why he moved up properly. At 175, he, along with many others, were ducked by the champion Gus Lesnevich. When it was clear he wasn't getting a title shot at 175, he moved up again and got one at heavyweight.
