Why is Joey 11 rounds Parker so overrated?

One thing we are always going to agree on is that Parker has had a hell of a career, and I am still hoping he gets back ina nd gets a couple more big fights. I still think he can win one more belt, especially against Wardley.

I wish more fighters were less risk adverse. We'd get a hell of a lot more interesting match ups.

All of the greats have losses. They aren't any lesser because of it.

I'd consider 3/4 of Parker's losses as a bit dodgy (Whyte headbutt counted as a knock down, AJ having Moses as a referee refusing inside action and a premature stoppage against Wardley). But it is what it is, and it comes with the territory of being the b-side on UK soil.

I do find it a bit curious that a question about Parker's career is framed though a knock on Joshua?!! Perfectly reasonable to ask questions on either topic. But seemed like the question is framed in a way I didnt expect...

He just doesn't like the fact that Parker has a better resume than Wilder does imo, so has to try and find other ways of knocking him down as evident by their respective threat titles...

There is a reason why everyone wanted Parker to get a title shot.

He deserved a shot first of all, and was on a very good run.

Joey 11 is funny and has the ability to catch on because:

    1. Parker has been stopped in 11 rounds not once but twice and has only ever been stopped in the 11th round, it's something he clearly enjoys

    2. His nickname prior to "Joey 11" was "Joey 12". This is because he always went 12 rounds when facing a decent opponent prior to Joyce, and sometimes even when not (Cojanu, Fa)

    3. "Joey 11" is an ironic transformation. Parker used to be a master of the boring decision, win or lose, but now he's a master of getting stopped at the last hurdle, he has either declined in terms of chin/defence or been exposed by better competition

One of those stoppages was very controversial, and having only two TKO/KO losses on your record is hardly something to be ashamed of, especially when going out on your shield.

I don't see you using nicknames for other fighters, so it just comes off as a bit bitter. Not sure why you'd hate on someone who'll fight whoever is put in front of him either, it's an example more heavyweights should follow.

No one else has a nickname as good as Joey 12/Joey 11 imo.

A)Parker won his first world title in 2016 and has been recycled at the world level ever since.

B)A lot of the best HWs of the past decade who would have beaten Parker did not breakthrough at the world level until much later if at all. Parker did not "fight everyone" as others have stated. But it seems like he has because he was being compared to the wrong guys like Whyte, Joyce and Chisora.

C)Parkers top opponents on average have been overrated to differing degrees. So his losses and wins haven't been properly weighed.

D)Parkers landmark win over Wilder meant he took Wilders place in the boxing landscape.

Parker beating an aging, twice KO'd Wilder doesn't mean he leapfrogs him. There's a better case for Whyte being above Parker based on his victory over prime Parker.

Parker is a former world champion. Whyte isn't.

Parker was also still fairly green back then under Kevin Barry imo.

Parker's resume also craps on Wilders, and he not only beat Wilder but he also beat Zhang the same year who sent Wilder face first on the canvas by round 5.

I rate Povetkin above Parker, Stiverne and Martin, regardless of their fluky titles.

But if being a world champion is critical:

Parker was a former world champion with title wins over Ruiz, Cojanu and Hughie.

Wilder was a former world champion with title wins over Stiverne, Molina, Duhaupas, Szpilka, Arreola, Washington, Stiverne 2, Ortiz, Breazeale, Ortiz 2 and a draw with Fury.

Parker's career isn't very impressive, few outside New Zealand will remember it. He was prime for all of his loses, and got a gift against Chisora. When the cokehead returns he'll get turned over again.

Wilder fought neither Whyte nor Povetkin, and neither did Parker fight Povetkin, so not sure what relevance that has.

I'd rate a victory over Ruiz above any opponent Wilder has ever beaten.

And your last sentence proves my initial point, that you're just a plain old hater. You like to rubbish Parker, but Parker beat a younger Chisora twice, beat the same Zhang that sparked Wilder out, and beat Wilder himself.
