2026 will be the year of the retirement of Kazuto Ioka, Juan Francisco Estrada, Chocolatito, John Riel Casimero, Pedro Guevara, Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, Froilan Saludar (not a world champion but a major contender at 112 lbs), Donnie Nietes, Guillermo Rigondeaux and Nonito Donaire. (Carlos Cuadras who is officially retired since November, 2025).

It's sad to see all these great champions of the past, 108, 112, 115 lbs, or even 118 / 122 lbs, who are going to be retired at almost the same time. They had incredible longevity for these weight classes at the top level and they made me dream.

 

I think Nery will outclassed Casimero right now. For me, the fight is not interesting than it was when they were both major figures in the 118 lbs category so 7-9 years ago...
