refreshing to come across a poster secure enough to correct himself publicly. speaks well of your character.
i dont really remember how i saw that fight going back when david was first calling for canelo. i know he wrecks him today, though. hes refined his particular style into an elite package, and he is peaking.

I'm still convinced that had they fought back in 2022-2024 Canelo would have had a much better chance just based on their styles, plus Benavidez wasn't quite at his best yet and still had more to prove. Benavidez right now has improved so much more over the years and he's shown that he's capable of handling all kinds of styles and win emphatically. He's got that confidence, determination, and wrecking ball style to make him a hard fighter for anyone. He would most definitely thrash Canelo right now.

the guy was sparring kelly pavlik as a 15 year old kid. has also sparred plenty with ggg and bivol, among others, so hes been swimming in deep waters for a long time. hes always been underrated, even by me, to be honest. but he has really come into his own last couple years. canelo will never fight him, hes not going to take that kind of beating at this stage of his career. because even if he were to somehow find a way to win that one, hes taking a beating to get that win. right now he is peaking and i dont see anyone beating him between 168-200 lbs for the next year or 2.

If Benavidez was not a big threat to Canelo the fight would have been made years ago !

brother, i'll take you at your word here. if you like sport and this grandad of sports, then i'll not assign that somewhat dishonest attitude to you.
he gets covered up with busy and length. benevidez takes half a step to port and it takes canelo 2 steps to get outside and another to get an angle. it was never gonna' work.

could of been a All-Mexican war(I know Benavidez was born in America)

A big threat right now? lol. He would demolish and stop Canelo brutally. Your concession that he would merely be a big threat now is funny.

normally I get annoyed when Mexico claims the Mexican-American fighters, but when Benavidez just refers to himself as Mexican and fights under the Mexican flag, plenty fair to just call him Mexican.

Maybe youre right. I think the Smith/BJS fights were a new version not seen by the fans or fighters and caught them by surprise so it was effective early on. But Canelo from those fights presumably couldve been the 154/160 Canelo again who fought on the backfoot.

I could be wrong tho and mb he was only a plodder by that time.
