David Benavidez vs Ken Norton

Ken faced what DB wished to be in Muhammad Ali and gave him a proper sistematic beatdown the first time around and ran other 2 close fades with him, in which some argue he won the rubber match.

Very low chance Benavidez wins this, imo.

 

Norton might be too strong. He gave Holmes and Ali hell.

I genuinely think there might not be a 175lbs fighter or below that could beat Norton.

If you can’t hurt Norton, you’re gonna have a tough night, and I don’t believe Benavidez could hurt him.

Ramirez wasn’t even a big 200lbs, he just looked big next to Benavidez, he was fleshy himself at 200lbs, whereas Norton was jacked at near 220lbs.

 

Benavidez lack of heavyweight power kills him

 

I would give Charles or Spinks a chance, but they'd have their hands full with Norton and I still favor Norton. However, a wild card could be that Norton was stopped by Garcia, although Norton improved as a fighter afterward, but it could show some vulnerability.

As for DB, I would favor Norton over him more than I'd favor Norton over Charles and Spinks.

I agree, I’d certainly give Spinks a very solid chance, due to the fact we know he had enough power against the big men, and he’s also not comically smaller than Norton in size. He could punch in combinations and had power in doing so, something which Norton often struggled against since his defence relied on blocking to a large degree, and when guys have quick, accurate and powerful combinations, that could spell trouble for him.

As for Benavidez, I have doubts that he could carry his power far enough up in weight to trouble a Norton, although he may prove me wrong further down the line, but I doubt it.

 

The only answer is Norton

 

I actually think Zurdo’s in ring weight is closer to 220. A lardy 220, but still 220.

I do think a peak Beterbiev would get it done against Norton.

 

What has Benavidez done that ranks him amongst the proven heavyweight greats?

 

Norton isn’t among them either.
