You're right, it is already happening. Struggled against Morrell. Beat the easiest champions at 175 and 200. He will have his hands full against Opetaia and Beterbiev, but won't fight them by following Canelo's path of least resistance. That being said, Benavidez is a very good boxer / fighter. If he beat Opetaia, Beterbiev and Bivol, he would have to be close to p4p #1.
Yes because.. Plant Andrade Gvozdyk (first fight at 175) Morrell Yarde Zurdo (first fight at 200) Is following the path of least resistance. Keep hating. As for OP. Yes you should brace for reality. David is a great fighter and will keep proving it.
This sounds like a lot of whining that has absolutely nothing to do with what I posted. Almost as if you're reflexively trying to defend Benevidez because YOU think he's not good enough. Nowhere in my post did I put down Benevidez whatsoever. I never said a thing about his boxing ability, his toughness, etc. I didn't even say anything negative about his record up to this point. All I said was that the powers that be won't want to risk their new Canelo cash cow by sticking him in with killers right away. I spiced it up. Tried to make it fun. But that's the entire argument. That Al Haymon and the orgs (who are in a battle with His Fatness El Turkmeister) will want to start milking this guy like they used to milk Canelo. I actually think Benny is more of a dawg than Canelo and would want to take on harder tests, but he's gotta do what the money men want, just like all boxers do.
Yeah he'll get exposed, brutally, if he and his team are foolish enough to face heavyweights. This post fight hype is ridiculous
What is this based off? Bivol has a fight coming up. And word is, Bivol and Beterbiev finish the trilogy later this year.
To straighten the whole conversation out: 1 Benavidez wins against zurdo (big win) 2 people overhype benavidez to the moon and back, say he might beat usyk 3 others see the madness in that and counter that and some of them overcorrect and trash benavidez Can we just say it is a great win, he has good reasons not to fight opetaia and his only logical next opponents are beterbiev and bivol? I see bivol winning btw, because i don't see any (!) footwork from benavidez. Have you seen how quick bivol is in and out on his feet? If he wants to avoid the fight he can do it as long as he wants....
I don't think anyone is really saying he could beat Usyk. Maybe a couple or over zealous posters at most? From what I'm seeing, not too many are even sure he beats Opetaia. But you are right. People get stupid after a fighter has a good win. Whether it's over selling the win, or just trashing him because of what posters say.
He's missed the boat. He has nobody anyone cares to watch him fight boxing is entering a deep slump right now and he'll be at the bottom of it, jerking off to the idea of fame and glory of which will never come.
He did quit, he went down on one knee and wanted no more. That is quitting, it’s fine and I don’t blame him, but he quit. Quitting doesn’t always have to be seen as an intolerable thing, live to fight another day and so on.
What do you call morrell, Yarde and moving up 25lbs to fight a unified champion? He has been taking risky fights since Plant. You are acting like he has been a Canelo euro tour or something. Now he is chasing Bivol, is that enough? Who does he need to fight ? Name me 1 boxer in the sport that has fought 6 top opponents in a row. No tune ups, no show case fights. Go ahead.
You can't be serious. Actually, I think you might be which is hilarious. Those are bog standard opponents, none of whom are standouts. Zurdo is the only fight that can be sold as Benevidez fighting a top guy, but come on. Let's be real. Zurdo ain't a complete bum, but he ain't much to write home about either. In fact, kinda smells a lot like how Canelo operates. Fight dudes a level below you and then jump a weight class to snatch a belt off a **** poor champ. Hell, word is Benevidez is even dipping his toes into more Canelo strategy with this Bivol fight he wants. He wants to make it a catch weight at like 190. Shameful.
I listed punchers. Morrell was putting people in comas, and had a lot of hype as a dangerous young lion. Yarde gave Beterbiev one of his toughest fights. They were tougher opponents than BJS, Callum Smith, Ryder, Kirkland, Angulo, Liam Smith, Rocking Fielding, Yildrim Who should he have fought and who should be fight next?
