Dmitry Bivol vs David Benavidez in talks to fight

Fat Dan said that Bivol wants to face Beterbiev next. There is even a lot of interest to stage the fight in Russia.

Benavidez should stay at cruiser, he looked really great, there is no point to drain himself to 175 again. He should fight Opetaia next and wait for the winner of B & B next.

 

Bivol outclasses him

 

I don't want to see a trilogy between Bivol/Beterbiev TBH.

Their fights were solid but not that great in all honesty.

And IMO Bivol clearly proved he was the better man over the 2 fights that I don't see the point of a 3rd fight.

Bivol comprehensively outboxed Beterbiev the 1st time until the last 3 rounds. And I thought that was a gift decision for Beterbiev and at worst it was a draw.

The 2nd fight Bivol won without controversy very clearly. I scored it 8-4 for Bivol there was 0 argument that Beterbiev won or even got a draw.

So I'd be happy to see Bivol vs Benavidez rather than a trilogy vs Beterbiev.

That's if Benavidez can make the weight again without draining himself.

 

Benavidez is phenomenal offensively, but he is too easy to hit, and for an elite technician like Bivol, it would simply be shooting fish in a barrel. I know there are punch stats that say otherwise, and that Benavidez is actually one of the hardest to hit, but his level of opposition simply doesn't calibrate with the idea that he has an elite defence. Not on the eye test for me, anyway.

Benavidez would be hitting air all night. They both dominated Zurdo in a different fashion, but Bivol did it in second gear and had Zurdo chasing shadows all night. Ramirez lost so badly to Benavidez because he basically fought Benavidez's fight. Until David beats someone as good as Beterbiev, then I've got no reason to think he can actually operate in the same class as Bivol, in all honesty.

I had Bivol beating Beterbiev twice. Beterbiev is a far better technician than Benavidez, hits harder, and has an engine that could do 15 rounds, even though he was on the decline. All Bivol would need to do would be to keep clear of Benavidez in the first half of the fight and potshot him down the stretch.

I could see Bivol winning a wide points decision and looking a level above, particularly in the latter half of the fight. As somebody else has already pointed out, I would rather Benavidez fight Opetaia at CW, he looked very healthy at CW, whereas Bivol is a more natural 175 fighter.

 

Benavidez v Bivol is THE fight to make,it’s the biggest fight at Light Heavyweight and it’s for Undisputed,plus it will put an end to all this silly talk of Benavidez fighting Opetaia or Usyk !

 

just not confident this fight gets made, unless bivol is ready to retire. his reluctance to fight beterbiev for 7 years, plus his dropping of the belt that benvidez was mandatory for, with an excuse that turned out to be bullcrap, has me doubting his willingness to want the challenge. hope he proves me wrong, though. its a puzzle i would be interested in watching david solve to show how the actual level hes operating at.

 

this would be awesome...props to both guys if they make it happen. i'll be rooting for benavidez, but this is a great contest between current prime champs. best of luck to both and may the right man get the nod on the night. amen.

 

Risky for Benavidez if he drains to 175, although hes a blown up CW already.

Bivol wins this on points, just too good at the basics.

Benavidez by UD or MD.

Bivol will gives him a lot of problems with his style more than Beterbiev if he fight Benavidez for example, but he will not have the power and of course Bivol lost his stamina right now he is not on his prime, he will quickly turn around in circles in survival mode and Benavidez will not make Beterbiev's mistakes, he will use his reach.

 

Already turning into Canelo.

 

I worry about Bivol's form after having back surgery. Those procedures can be hit or miss and can sometimes do a number on people. I want to see how he looks physically in his next fight, although if he's as good as he was previously, he should win a decision. Distance management, jab, and legs, coupled with his catch and shoot combinations from the outside, ought to carry the day.
