Seems like the IBF doesn't mean much? WBC means the most. Shouldn't they all matter? When Lucas Browne won a world title in 2016 many didn't really acknowledge it. At least Paul Gallen didn't. I think he won the WBO.

They have some meaning. But they need to be controlled and networks are the only thing that can do it. There the main reason that zuffa are about to do there thing because the idiots that run these organisations and there greed and there is a huge chance they fall apart in the next 5 years

    Lineal and The Ring.

All major alphabet belts have the same value.

Charr was champion for years. And Usyk obviously ducked him. So did Fury and AJ.

I agree with greedy bit. But there far from idiots. If they get there way. It will the great for the sport. It will explode in popularity because it is the most exciting combat Sport in the world be a country mile. But it will be a disaster for the top fighters in the sport because they will be pay will decrease and the likes of WBC. IBF they will be crushed. That is if it works which is not guaranteed. I think it is pretty much up to Saudis and what they do. The easiest way would be to buy a controlling interest in dazn and that would pretty much mean check mate and just ban ABC boys from the network.

The WBC is the one that makes the most mistakes. We saw it with Pacquiao, who was able to fight for their world title against Barrios last year, when he hadn't fought since 2021. Then, after Pacquiao, Garcia was able to fight for the WBC title against Barrios in February, Garcia having not won a fight since 2023. Then we'll see if the WBC title will be on the line in Usyk-Verhoeven. I expect anything from the Mexican organization now. Boxers they like can fight for the world title after not winning a fight in years, and, if they like them, they can easily avoid an official challenger for years (ask Benavidez). That's the WBC for me. Obviously, other organizations make mistakes too, like Dubois, who will fight for the WBO world title on Saturday after losing his last fight by knockout.

Why ? Cos the guy who owns it is the richest guy in boxing? Did you feel the same way about the ring title when de La Hoya owned it?

Because it s the one who awards the title on merit and has the best rankings.
I feel the same about it since it has existed.
I also like TBRB rankings and championships but offcourse they dont award anything but it s still a heavy ranking for me.

It always used to be the Ring, but now I struggle to trust the impartiality because of the ownership. I also struggle to take it seriously as they have wilfully allowed Jai Opetaia to keep the belt despite his move to an exclusionary league where (previously ducked or not) he will not be facing elite competition or mandatories.

The least problematic of the alphabet bodies appears to be the WBO, but they’re relatively lineage free compared with the WBA, IBF, and WBC.

The WBA being the longest standing is a plus, but their super and regular titles are a detractor, especially when a unified title is arbitrarily split off into a super and a regular at will. The regular title holder nearly always being a can doesn’t help that at all.

The WBC are completely bent and the less said about them the better.

The IBF are at least consistent with enforcing mandatories and happy to strip when needed, but their rankings are absolute trash.

The best title as an objective means of judging the best fighter in a division is probably still the Ring title despite the impartiality, as there’s still a good element of the man beating the man being required for it to change hands, or at the very least, 2 of the top echelon of a given division need to fight to win it from being vacant. My only issue currently is Jai still holding it whilst ruling a farmers league in Zuffa, but he won it fair and square outside of Zuffa originally. I guess it’s thus fair game.

I think the jury is still out there regarding Opetaia. If he doesn't schedule a fight with a Top 5 guy by 18/05, he should be stripped according to the rules.

Because it's the oldest belt in boxing and was always awarded to the real champion of the division and corresponded with the lineal championship 99.9% of the time.

I think Glanton was in a Top 10. The Ring champion needs to fight a Top 5 guy every 2 years to keep the belt. I've heard Opetaia may face CBS or Mikaelian. Both would fit the description according to Ring ratings.
