You denied they sparred in front of any pro fighters I showed you one who backed up what I said and now you say he isn't impartial? Why is Chris not impartial?

You just don't understand what I said. He does not run quite enough for me to class him as a 'runner' but he does plenty enough. It's not a hard concept to grasp.

So now you are denying shakur is a runner based on 2 fights, and suggest I might be a casual lol.

Spot on. Also benavidez doesn't have good footwork for moving forward. Since he just tends to walk forward with his guard up, he'll have a lot of problems putting pressure on bivol and actually getting in range AND position to punch in time, so bivol hasn't moved into a better spot already.

Obviously bivol is not knocking benavidez out. But the punch stats might be pretty clear after the fight.

He runs “plenty enough” for what? For you to make a point of how he runs? But he isn’t a runner? Just say he is one and move on. People are entitled to their opinions. Just don’t dance around making it just because you know it’s unpopular.

No, on those 2 fights alone (his most recent indicators of style and form) you can’t say he looks like a runner. I think the Shakur being a runner narrative is based on the one fight with De Los Santos - a fight in which he was very negative I’ll admit, but that’s the best example of him ‘running’, and it was also ages ago. How was he running when he stopped Herring, beat up Valdez and stopped Padley?

He runs plenty but I would not go far enough to class him as a runner. Apparently nuance is hard for you to grasp. Not my fault.

He runs when he feels threatened by power, and its pure running. He has done it in more than one fight actually. Do your research.

I can grasp nuance when it is there to be grasped. You’re just talking nonsense. A runner is someone who runs. Much like a plodder is someone who moves slowly and clumsily - not someone who plods around plenty, but not quite enough to call them a plodder.

And how dare a person prioritise defensive footwork against a dangerous puncher?

If you want to watch people stand around like a tw4t waiting to get hit, go watch Power Slap, or clips of people playing with their Rock 'Em Sock 'Em toys.

i see what makes each one successful is going to be a problem for bivol more than it will be for benavidez. yes bivol uses the ring to stay out of reach of his opponents offence, but that doesnt win you fights. hes going to have to stop and punch. and when he does, hes going to have to punch against a guy who is faster than him, has longer reach, punches with more volume, and i suspect quite a bit harder. all benavidez has to do is consistently get off first when bivol does finally decide to stop and score a point. benavidez is not just going to let him score his point and skate out. hes going to tax him for stopping, then tax him for throwing.

That would work if benavidez could just stand there in position and wait for bivol to come in from a straight line.

Bivol would be aiming to fight on the move. Benavidez and bivol would both be moving around the ring and benavidez can't do that. He doesn't move around in position, he crosses legs all the time and is not ready to throw useful punches while he does. Bivol will punish that. And probably not only with single jabs. He can come in and throw a meaningful combination. Nothing to trouble benavidez but it will be enough to impress the judges (and me).

And if benavidez really decides not to press forward and just stay in position, bivol would turn him and totally control the rhythm. That should be enough for him to win handily.

Benavidez often crushed his opponents later in the fight. Maybe i misremember benavidez vs plant, but i think plant looked ok against him for a while until he was out of breath a bit?

Bivol is plant +2 Levels. And I like plants style.

david has no trouble firing on the move, and does it often. hes never been a fighter that needs his feet planted to fire off shots. youre describing more of a canelo, who had no trouble getting his opportunities, just didnt have the volume to wear bivol down. bivol is 35 years old, if he can stay on his bike long enough to avoid exchanging with david like you believe he can, then hes a freak and deserves to win. i dont see it and i hope hes as confident in himself as you are in him so we can see it. theyve sparred plenty to test your theories allready, and by all accounts bivol had problems, which bivol doesnt deny, he just says its sparring.

did people do this to Floyd? Just refuse to give him credit and constantly be negative?

Shakur is admittedly not an exciting watch in the blood and guts sense. But in terms of ability? He looks like the best in the sport in his age range / generation, with the highest ceiling.

I know some will maybe say Boots or Bam, but I see flaws in both (even though both are exceptional and are great fun to watch). Shakur, literally the only “flaw” I see is that he’s not a big puncher.
