    Whining?

I thought that was the point of your thread? Whining about the state of boxing and promoters and fans hopes. No?

Anyway, I probably was a bit off topic of whatever this threads topic is and was responding more towards various posts I'd seen. Apologies for derailing your main talking points.

Anyway, as I said I don't think he has the kind of potential to be a cash cow for his promoter based on careful marketing and cherry picking cause he's not that marketable beyond his in-ring performances.

But, maybe you'll be proven right and the 'money men' will pair him up in garbage fights. I just don't think they'll get much money in doing that.

Curious though; if you think that's what will happen and are hung up on boxing being a business, what keeps you interested in the sport? You sound rather cynical about it all. Maybe time for a new sport?

No, you were whining. I was educating. Trying to bring some sanity back after the Benevidez could beat God with one hand tied behind his back! nonsense we've seen since Saturday.

I enjoy the actual boxing, not all the nonsense around it. We don't have to condone idiocy or quit watching the sport completely. We can rightly point out stupidity, corruption, and bad business while still watching and enjoying the fights. If a venomous snake shows up in your house you don't ignore it or sell your house and move. You work to get rid of the snake. You sound a lot like this meme:

Not interested in silly internet memes.

You're saying boxing is a business and that's the reason we'll get crappy matchups. Then saying you're pointing out bad business.

If it's good business to pair Benavidez in tough matchups, why are you feeling the need to educate (i.e. whine about things that haven't happened) others about why those matches won't happen?

My whole point is that Benavidez ain't that marketable without putting him in decent matchups. I'm not sure what your point is.

This ain't the PBC welterweight era that could avoid Crawford because they had enough of the top guys in the division (and some guys that were marketable enough on their own).

He looked very sharp against Zurdo and against Yarde in the previous fight, The best he has looked imo but those two are of course a level or two beneath Bivol and Opetaia, so that is the level he needs to prove himself at. I was surprised to see that they picked him against Opetaia in Inside the Ring and I wonder if one of them didn't even pick him over Usyk.

So, yeah, could well be some hype going on, but hopefully we'll find out. Him against Bivol is a close one to me, but I have Opetaia as a favourite.
