Dmitry Bivol vs David Benavidez in talks to fight

Yeah, ain't no way you win a decision in Vegas against their new cash cow. It'll be Triple G v. Canelo all over again.

 

Prime for prime? I think Bivol’s footwork mastery maybe just edges it out by a C WORD hair. However, I still think Benavidez’s relentless pressure and hand speed would have given even a prime Bivol serious fits in an extremely competitive 50/50 fight. After all, an old man’s pressure was enough to make Bivol look like he was blowing out of his arse quite badly in the later rounds both times they fought.

''But but Benavidez is not close to Beterbiev'' well, I’m not so sure, as I saw Yarde handle Beterbiev’s pressure very well for seven rounds and even land plenty of leather back in a legitimately very close fight. yet, The Monster made Yarde look like some random area-level scrub from start to finish.

Right now? I’ll wait and see, but I suspect Bivol is one of those guys who won’t age that well, and Benavidez will have caught him at the right time if they fight.

Didn't Bivol have back surgery to help a long term injury? The huge amount of amateur fights along with the pro fights must take their toll on the body, especially with a style like his.

 

Good news, I hope they can agree on a match at the end of 2026. I see Bivol as the favorite but it's a very interesting fight.

 

i dont know. i know he dropped his wbc belt when he was mandated to fight benavidez, saying he was going to fight beterbiev for a 3rd time instead, then signed to fight someone else. i dont think he was ducking both since he already beat beterbiev, even though it took him 7 years to face that champ in his division. but who knows.

 

If he steps in the ring with Benavidez, it’s game over for Bivol.

I'm sorry, but Benavidez is too savage compared to Bivol. We all saw what happened to Zurdo.

Benavidez will destroy Bivol.

I don't care for this fight. I want to see Benavidez vs Beterbiev. 2 savage boxers trying to break each other, way more interesting.

 

Why drain again? He physically looked the same in the Zurdo fight as he did against Yarde. So fighting cruiser, he spares himself the dehydration rehydration crap. If anything, he seemed stronger and quicker at cruiser.

Zurdo is slow as molasses compared to Bivol. Bivol hops around in there, in and out, as quick as Inoue. He’s got to engage, which will be the issue, but he’s got a huge foot speed advantage on Benavidez.

 

Its an interesting fight as they have sparred a lot along the years and the word is that Benavidez was getting better of Bivol almost every time.

Sparring is sparring and both have improved since. Still, Benavidez seems really confident about beating Bivol.

 

He won't hop anywhere once he tastes Benavidez's raw power.

 

Benavidez may have the "monster" moniker, but in terms of monstrousness he is a Golden Retriever puppy compared to Beterbiev. I really do not see what he has for Bivol that Beterbiev did not have.

 

Not being past prime is obviously a big advantage

 

If Bivol is still sharp in his next fight this month I'm certain that he'll give Benavidez a boxing lesson. Great as Benavidez looked against Zurdo I don't think he'll be able to sustain that kind of offense on a master technician like Bivol.
