Viddal Riley over Jai Opetaia
Conor Benn ranked at 154 altough he hasnt competed there and has never announced his inteions of doing so
Devin Haney not in the top 15 WWs.
And those are some of the blatant horrible ones,there are plenty of others.

We'll see what the future holds. I want to believe the rating panel will not be influenced much by Turki. It's not like The Ring hasn't make questionable decisions before, like f.e. crowning Vitali their champ in 2004.

 

Arguing which alphabet belt is the most prestigious, is like debating what type of shyte would you rather eat. They all suck.

Yeah but how many boxers do you know go around saying to everyone ‘I’m the ring magazine champion’? You might not think it’s normal an say it means nothing but there’s plenty of fighters that will gladly say they are the wbc or wba or ibf world champion.

 

There have been a few.
I know there are plenty glad to be BC or BA champ but its more related to pilitics I think.

 

It's all about the promotion. The Ring Magazine belt was once "the" belt. You don't see fighters presenting WBA or WBC belts before mid 70's. Ring belt was a symbol of a championship status. And it still is to a degree. With Turki's promotional push it may return to its old glory hopefully.

 

And desperately clinging to the mirage of legitimacy, which provides a cushy existence for doing far call.

I prefer the ORGs over the magazine belt because of the nostalgia I have growing up watching these titles contested frequently , the big fight feel such a belt can bring to a main event

I'm totally aware that I'm speaking here as a fan with nostalgic goggles on to a degree but I don't really care
I like what I like and make no apologies for it

As a poster previously mentioned, not a single kid grows up dreaming of being the Ring mag champ

I personally see the Ring belt moving forward getting used5as a tool for Turki's needs which will make it no better than what we currently have

They are dreaming of becoming the universally recognized champion, not just a title holder, and Ring belt represents that, even if they don't know it. Most of the boxers don't know shyte about boxing history. AJ didn't even know what the lineal champion is.
