Lennox Lewis vs Vitali Klitsckho was 57-57, 3 rounds a piece

Everyone knows that Lewis was on his way to a hiding if not for the cut.

 

All three judges had Vitali ahead 58–56. I am pretty sure that the opinion of the original poster doesn’t count or matter in this particular case.

Hi Lennox. You were down by 2 rounds as everyone knows. And everyone knows including you that if not for the cut you would have lost your title. That's why you retired.

Doesn’t matter if Lewis was down on points,he stopped Klitschko so the points were out of the equation . If a fighter is unable to continue for whatever reasons (accidental cuts aside inside 4 rounds) the other fighter wins. It was not a no contest,it was not a technical decision,it was Lewis TKo 6 winner .

It's a shame that having your face shredded in many ribbons by punches can ruin a perfectly good decision victory that can happen in your imagination.

 

I thought the three judges' score was 58-56, but if someone had it 57-57, that's fine, it's a matter of a different round being awarded.

I disagree, however, when I hear talk of dominance (sometimes I happen to hear it said), there are other forms of dominance, there's no dominance here. I've even heard it said that it shouldn't even be considered a defeat for Klitschko, because if it hadn't been for the cut he would have won. Saying that is bull****, Vitali's cut was caused by Lewis' punches, this is a perfectly fair TKO. The rest is just speculation, you can easily make them, but they have no basis in reality. In a rematch I would have favored Klitschko, but there never was a rematch, and we've only seen one fight between the two, won by 6th TKO by Lewis, without any controversy.

It was also the way I saw the fight. Vitali dominated the first 2, but after that, Lewis won 3 out of 4.

 

And Vitali was on his way to an early retirement if the fight continued.

 

I’ve always wondered if vitali was ever cut as badly as that before or after that fight? I’ve heard plenty of people say that Lewis would have done exactly the same to him if they had the rematch

 

I think either 4 rounds to 2 for Vitali or 3 a piece are arguable. It was a very close fight.
Maybe Vitali made a bigger impression because of the 2nd round where he gave Lennox a beating ( but failed to finish him ).

 

Lewis at 37 came in inactive at a career heaviest & still smashed prime klitschko from pillar to post.
