He lost to Wladimir in 2000 but then beat the likes of Tua, Holyfield, and was a belt holder afterwards.

Vitali didn't fight any better opposition than Byrd between 2000-2004 outside of Sanders who was a deseving opponent after beating Wladimir.

You're the only person in the world who tries to say Vitali wasn't dominating the fight.

Of course he was dominating the fight. The judges had it 88–83 x 2, and 89–82. Being 7 rounds or 5 rounds up is dominating the fight.

And Boxing fans know, that the Klitschko brothers were a joint team force, they felt they had avenged it by Wlad beating Byrd.

The judges scorecards don't reflect the fight at all. Byrd only landed 8 punches less than Vitali, on better efficiency, and was landing crisper shots. You can argue he won 4 rounds.

Best ever with his top wins being Peter and Sanders? LOL. He wasn't even the best in his era.

    This is clearly false.

Numerous members on this site had the fight close @MaccaveliMacc @George Crowcroft are 2 members right away that I remember having the fight a 1 point fight.

The fight was in Vitali's backyard in Germany and I guess you agree with every judges scorecard right ?

I guess Lewis vs Holyfield 1 was a legit draw right ? And the 1 judge who had 115-113 Holyfield is accurate ?

Only 8 punches separated Vitali & Byrd and Byrd landed at a 44 percent connect rate compared to Vitali at 26 percent connect rate.

Hence it was a competitive nip & tuck tactical fight.

So basically your answer for Vitali not fighting Byrd is because his little brother beat him up for him ?

And you're actually using that as a legit excuse ?

Why? The first fight was razor thin - yeah I know the judges had Vitali in the lead but there wasn’t that much in it. And Byrd took the fight on a week’s notice and travelled to Germany for the fight. I see no reason why with a full camp he couldn’t have beaten Vitali. Would’ve been Vitali’s best win by a significant margin.

If people really think this then Vits was a fool not to pursue Byrd for a rematch.

I had Vitali only winning by one round, with a couple of swing rounds. And Byrd had the momentum and had won the last few when Vitali bowed out.

I don't disagree. Vitali was big, entertaining, and the way he dispatched Danny Williams after the Sanders fight promised big things. But a loss is a loss, and not fighting a guy ranked #2 who beat you just leaves a bad taste if you want to be considered "the man". Just my opinion of course.

It's not so much that I don't think Vitali couldn't win a rematch.

Although I don't think its quite as clear cut as what alot of people make out.

Byrd would be the best win of Vitali's career and I thought their 1st fight was competitive.

But I do think Vitali should've pursed a rematch and put that right.

I don't understand all these silly excuses that because Wladimir beat Byrd Vitali didn't have to beat him that is nonsense IMO.

All it shows is that both brothers have different strengths and weaknesses against different opponents.

Wladimir dominated Byrd because he has better technical skills and alot more power.

Vitali beat Sanders because he's alot more durable and he could withstand the power of Sanders alot better.

I don't think even in a rematch that Vitali would come close to dominating Byrd the way Wladimir did.

As I said different strengths and weaknesses.

Totally agree, and I thought Wlad and Vitali being #1 and #2 was the worst thing to happen to the division at the time. I respect them both tremendously, and **** no I probably wouldn't fight my brother in a professional boxing match either. I know it was their goal to hold all the belts together, so kudos. But it wasn't good for the sport in my opinion as a boxing fan.

    In what way ?

So people are allowed to constantly make Lewis ducked Vitali threads ?

But I can't make a thread questioning why Vitali didn't fight Byrd ?

I think it's weird you find my thread weird but not the countless Lewis ducked Vitali threads.
