Why is Vitali given a pass for not rematching Byrd ?

There's a recent Vitali/Lewis thread here with loads of comments about Lewis ducking Vitali ?

Titled "the scorecards were 57-57" that was made 2 days ago ?

So you're saying my thread is more unique compared to the same conversations and threads we always have in regards to Lewis/Vitali.

And that's your issue ? Don't make alot of sense to me.

But yet I've always found it baffling that Vitali gets a pass for not fighting a rematch vs Byrd ?

People like to make out "oh Vitali was dominating the fight, Byrd was lucky the rematch didn't need to happen.".

But this is not actuallt true at all.

A total of only 8 landed punches separated the two fighters and Byrd almost doubled Vitali's connect rate.

I think people just watch highlights and look at boxrec seeing what the judges had it.

The fight in actual fact was a tactical nip and tuck affair in which Byrd was never hurt once in the entire fight.

He made Vitali miss alot of punches that I believe contributed to the injury to Vitali's shoulder.

Byrd was coming on in the fight after the 5th round backing up Vitali landing good straight left hands.

Vitali was also heavily criticised after this fight.

So why wouldn't Vitali take a rematch vs a fighter who was a top 3 rated Heavyweight between the years Vitali was active in 2001-2004 before his semi retirement ?

Who actually held a win against him and it would've been one of the stand out wins on Vitali's resume ?

And he would be revenging a loss that alot of people criticised him for.

I just find it amazing a prime Vitali gets a pass for not rematching Byrd.

But yet a past his prime Lewis at the end of his career is not given the same treatment.

Byrd got his ass kicked by Wlad when Vitali was bouncing back from shoulder surgery—>Sanders kicked Wlad’s ass—->Vitali kicked Sanders’ ass. Vitali was also seen as the man to beat after Lewis retired.

Vitali then retired with injuries while Byrd toiled on the DKP circuit before getting his ass kicked by Wlad again and Povetkin.

Vitali then got the WBC belt, but Byrd was irrelevant.

Vitali also disliked Don King.

That’s what happened.

BTW Vitali never would’ve fought Gomez if he were actually avoiding stylish southpaws.
