Fabio Wardley vs. Daniel Dubois & Jack Rafferty vs. Ekow Essuman + David Morrell vs. Zak Chelli RBR.

I still can't believe Chelli knocked Morrell out

A mate called me midway through the fight and I subsequently missed the vast majority of the rest of the fight and all of the others which followed it sans obviously the main event. However, I did catch the finish albeit with the volume down and I was like Chelli is finishing strong here and Morrell looks like he's feeling the weight of his shots and then the next thing I knew was Morrell was sagging on the ropes completely out of it

Just prior to receiving the call I was actually in the middle of writing a post imploring Chelli to crack him on the chin because non-Brits can't take it like we can

 

Yeah, I'm going to have to go back through the thread and see what everyone was saying about it

 

Alright, I promised an explanation for my Dubois pick beforehand, one that I was too preoccupied to give in the lead up. It's pretty simple, as fun and exciting as Wardley is, he's got horrendous defense, and has been lit up by guys with roughly half the skill set of Dubois and 1/4th of his power. Dubois while seemingly dumb as a brick outside of the ring, is well schooled because it's been hammered into his thick skull since he was a kid. So it's instinctive to him at this point, which doesn't require him to actually use his limited intellect. Whereas Wardley has no amateur pedigree to speak of. Also his power while impressive, is also overrated. Zhang hurt Parker far more with glancing blows, and Joyce destroyed him. He couldn't KO that bum Frazer Clarke first time out either. Why did it take him 10 rounds to finally land clean on Huni, who has a very weak mandible? So if he can't land that one perfect shot, which is his straight right, which he throws like an absolute maniac, then he doesn't have much of a chance to stop you. Daniel's chin is better than advertised, it's just a willpower and heart thing with him. Otherwise he wouldn't have been able to walk through bombs from AJ, Hrgovic or even Miller. So while I figured he'd go down a time or two, he wouldn't stay down, because he'd be having success against Fabio and never completely demoralized like he was against Usyk. Also Fabio while he just proved his chin is amazing, he does get rocked rather easily. Gorman, Molina, Parker, Clarke, Huni all stunned him, and Dubois hits like a truck compared to those guys, who hit like bicycles running into your shin. So I figured Daniel would be emboldened by the success he'd be having, and fight through any kind of adversity, and get the job done, and by using rough house tactics if needed. Which is pretty much what happened.
