Some fighters just don’t ever fully recover from fights like we seen tonight . Wardley certainly seems the type of fighter who will want to try again so I guess we will see what tonight’s fight took from him .

"Outlasting Zhang" isn't as difficult as you suggest. Incredibly dangerous early probably the most dangerous HW of this era, but get through that and he's a sitting duck.

I've never seen a fighter so clearly finished like Wardley was tonight, in the HW division none the less, but still his legs refused to give way despite being hit over and over again. He couldn't stand or walk properly but somehow his legs just refused to give way.

I'd go as far as saying that if Wardley was in the same state as he was in round 9 with Dubois, but with Zhang, he probably beats Zhang because the big Chinaman would be completely exhausted by that point.

Parker's chin gets a raise after never being on the verge of a knockdown against Wardley.

I wonder what round they would have stopped that if JP was in Wardley's shoes...

Zhang also on the long list with Parker between 6 and 10.

Well he wasn’t in there with Zhang was he? So it’s not really a talking point. But if I were to indulge you and talk about a fantasy matchup between Wardley and Zhang, I’d just say that Zhang would have Wardley out of there before round 9. I love Wardley, but his shortcomings in terms of schooling will always cost him against big punchers with reasonable fundamentals.

Zhang carries power the whole fight, just lacks the longevity to deliver it more than a few times a round. So outlasting him isn’t a linear challenge, no, but getting through the first few rounds (and in Hrgovic’s case, a knockdown) isn’t easy at all.

Wardley's chin is truly something else. We should all aspire to be half as tough as that guy.

I was not expecting Wardley to have this level of chin and heart. He is a true warrior. Big fan, but was hoping to see it stopped earlier as he is just too tough for his own good.
