According to Frank Warren, Fabio Wardley has a rematch clause

He's not making up the gap in ability in 6 months to a year.

 

Frank brought it up right after the fight and you could hear the crowd boo it. Everyone knows Fabio should never step in the ring with Dubois again.

 

Fabio has had enough damage, hang the gloves up champ, you had your moment.

 

Does Wardley want another nasty beating from Dubois?

 

You never fully heal from a beating like that.

 

Could be like the Clarke rematch where Wardley got busted up, figured him out and smashed him in two rounds the next fight... Anything is possible.

I think Wardley needs to recover, have a tune up then visit the idea of a rematch.

 

Fabio's probably partying right now. Dude is fine.

Let's get it on in a couple months. These two dudes mesh well.

 

I don't know why people are so quick for Wardley to retire.

Yes he took a pasting but let the guy rest and then access his future.

I also wouldn't be against a rematch I think Wardley has a chance to win a rematch.

People are forgetting Wardley dropped Dubois twice.

The issue was Wardley swung too much recklessly and wore himself out and wasn't able to consistently land his punches.

Wardley went for broke early and it almost paid off but in the end it didn't. And he showed a lack of experience wasting too much energy early on by throwing reckless punches.

If Wardley can set up the right hand better behind the jab and land a bit more consistently he definitely has a chance to win a rematch.

Anytime Wardley landed on Dubois he either dropped him or had him visibly stunned.

The issue was he didn't land enough consistent punches on Dubois.

That can change if he learns a bit more patience and sets up the right hand better.

 

He also had a much faster jab when he used it. He needs to work on it to set up the right hand rather than whatever the hell Davidson was trying to get him to do

 

That was one of the worst, most sickening beatings I have seen in a long time... those last few rounds were no longer entertainment. Should have been stopped way earlier. Unfortunately Fabio's superhuman chin is the thing that kept the fight going. I genuinely started fearing for Wardley's life to be honest. I've seen less brutal beatings where boxers have died. The guy is just way too damn tough for his own good. I can't see him ever being the same after that... I don't wanna see him back in the ring for a long time.

There's different types of warriors. There's warriors like Chisora, whose career I've loved every second of, because at least he knows how to defend himself and avoid punches for the most part. And then there's warriors like Wardley, who let their opponent use their head as a punch bag. There's a reason Chisora's been able to do it for so long, even if people think he should've retired years ago. Genuinely fear for Wardley if he goes through many more of them. He's a rare boxer with real intelligence outside of the ring too and it would be tragic to see him end up in a bad way.

 

I personally have no interest in seeing that.

The knockdowns were his moments in the fight but aside from that it was hard to watch him eat those shots.

 

Do people forget this is a combat sport? Combat is the main part. Sport is the suggested guardrails. Protect yourself at all times. I never met a boxer with an appreciable number of fights who came out unscathed. Don't think that because your favorite ex-pug can conduct a 2 minute interview he isn't compromised. He is. And so are thousands you never heard of. This is the price for glory.
