Dubois defeats Wardley, and the winner is...USYK!

The same three opponents over the course of 5 years? Yeah that'll be hard to beat...

 

I think he is salty that Parker never got to fight Usyk but it isn't Usyk's fault Parker wasn't good enough to beat Wardley.

 

He dropped the IBF knowing full well his next unification was against either Dubios who he had already beaten, or AJ who he had beaten twice.

I don't fault him for the AJ and Fury rematches, but lets not get carried away here, he absolute COULD be fighting other contenders and mandatories yet actively chooses not to. Like it or not, that will affect his legacy especially with this farce of a fight against Rico.

 

If they are all 2x or more champs, clear A-side in half or more of the fights and future hall of famers, yes it will be extremely difficult to beat. Let alone considering the GOAT CW run, undefeated record etc.

 

I would have been fine had he at least faced Wardley, but he skipped that to fight a kickboxer.

I know you're happy watching pointless rematches, but I guess I just have higher standards for active champions.

 

In a hypothetical Usyk-Parker fight, Usyk was literally a 1/10 favourite with the bookies lol. Many considered it a pretty meaningless fight, and subsequent events seem to have bore that out.

 

We are discussing Usyks legacy. It's absolutely relevant.

 

He was considered a top 5 heavyweight at the time. Certainly more meaningful than rematching a guy you already made quit.

 

What's better:

Two wins over Ali and two wins over Lewis

Or

Single wins over Ali and Lewis, but also wins over contenders Bugner and Morrison?

 

The second obviously, beating them twice has no more value than beating them once.

Otherwise it would be the same top 4 heavyweights constantly fighting each other in endless rematches if we used your logic.

 

Dubois was considered the No.1 HW at the time outside Usyk, and he was given a far better chance of beating Usyk than Joey 11 was because he can punch. And 2x champ Dubois has a far better chance of getting in the HoF than the Joshua, Whyte, Joyce and Wardley victim Parker.
