Bowe vs. Lewis never happened but I often wonder..

Before the Bowe/Holyfield fight, there were rumors that if Bowe won, he would intend to defend first against Georges Foreman.
In response, Lewis stated that Bowe was afraid to fight him because of their amateur final.
This is why Bowe confronted him directly about that.

Bowe beat one of the greatest heavyweights of all time 2 of 3 and stopped him the 3rd fight. So it’s baffling what happened against Golota. He seemed all of a sudden a bit spent.

Lewis was far from perfect and struggled with lesser fighters during this time.

Lennox would have knocked out Bowe within 5 rounds, maybe in 1 or 2 rounds. Style make fights and Lennox tended to destroyed bigger men early - see Rudduck, Golota, Grant, Briggs

 

A pity Eddie Futch didn't agree with you. He literally told Manny Steward when asked why the fight didn't happen that Lennox was too big and strong for Bowe.

He didn't struggle anyone in this time either. McCall landed a great counter shot when Lennox was coming in for the kill and the ref didn't give the champ chance to respond. Everyone else Lennox dominated.

Bowe was still getting nice paydays to face guys like Jesse Ferguson and a very declined Michael Dokes.

I also view it as close to a pick-em in 93’. I think I’d lean towards Lewis as the favorite if I had to pick one. Bowe had that leaky defense, particularly from the outside, and I think Lewis would land that big right hand often enough

 

Bowe would have got his revenge.

 

He caught old Holyfield (who retired after their first fight.. because of too many wars and punishment.. from people like Foreman etc.).

Fan man saved Bowe. Holyfield was looking at a ninth round KO over Bowe. Strange that the narrative became Fan man saved Holyfield.

THAT sort of thing is what Holyfield had to deal with. Perrenially underrated.
