Yeah, Fabio especially came out throwing wildly... and it almost worked. Though highly entertaining, the first few rounds were not a primer on defensive responsibility, or even how to set up your punchers and counter your opponents. Dubois did discover his skillset out of necessity when he wisely decided he wasn't going to win a pure slugfest with Fabio. At that point, there was some excellent footwork and jabwork, set ups and even body work on display, mostly by Daniel. And his skill, and heart, won him that fight.

It’s grouped by contenders and champions, although Briggs held an invisible belt and Mercer held a lightly regarded one.

I’m not so sure I’d call his taking the knee ‘tremendous ring presence’.
Others have said similar, that he showed underrated ring IQ by taking a knee..
You lose a point doing that obviously, perhaps occasionally it’s a good thing to do but I wouldn’t call it tremendous ring presence or it’s something that fighters would do all the time

I thought he looked hurt and I thought it was smart. Each fighter and case is different. I watched Cooney lose to Spinks because he didn’t know how to clinch and didn’t know how to take a knee when needed. Some guys know how to survive and some don’t, in case of this fight I thought it was smart, but do I really know, no.

Smart, perhaps, we don’t know how much he was hurt.
If he knew he was going to win every round afterwards then you can’t argue i guess.
