Ali is only rated above Lewis due to impact on the sport and what he did in his own era, not cause historians think he'd beat Lewis.
The ratings are based on what each achieved, not on who's better H2H.

Given that Ali is not a big puncher, Lewis would come in at a lighter weight, so he can match / get close to Ali's speed.
Ali would stand no chance whatsoever.

The slowest Ali would only be twice as fast as Lewis then instead of 3x faster…

Not true at all, most people who have Ali above Lewis which is damn near everyone also have him beating him head to head

Very uneducated comments. Ali is ALWAYS rated over Lewis by noted experts. Lewis never even had to fight over 12 rounds, never the championship distance. Ali’s star has risen over the years, not diminished. What else will you make up next? You’re funny, keep them coming!

Many boxing pundits tip Lewis to win including Floyd.

I will give it to Ali for a couple of reasons.
    1. Lewis is not KOing him. Liston coudln't while he was blind, George Couldn't when he was old and Earnie couldn't when he was brain damaged.
    2. Lewis had way more problems with Evander the second time and Evander the second time fought with more of a typical boxing style. Now you add an Ali who trains for 15 rounds creaming his pants that he only has to go 12 and you are looking at him making Lennox's head into a speed bag.

If the fight is 12 rounds then Ali by UD if the fight is 15 rounder then Ali by TKO in round 14th.

Lewis might drop down a couple spots if the next era spawns multiple all time greats. Alis legacy is safer and more likely to be undisturbed

Best chance for Ali would have to be the 67 Ali. Let’s take him vs Terrell he would be in top shape.
The post layoff rope a dope Ali can’t beat him. Comparing to Foreman Lewis is much more skilled and savvy than George and will pin point his shots won’t get hit as much and is not going to run out of gas like Foreman. Meantime those power shots will be taking a huge toll on the stationary Ali.
The best chance is for the younger super quick Ali who might get in do his damage and get out before Lewis can harm him. Can he do it however well enough not to get caught by Lewis’ immense power for 12 or 15 rounds?
Lewis has size speed skill power toughness IQ to make it very tough on even the fleet Ali.
Prime Lewis vs 67 Ali I make Lennox an 8 to 5 favorite.

    Yes, on your part.

He's rated as being greater due to his impact on the sport. He ain't beating Lewis in a million years.

He never had to, there were no such fights in his era. And it's completely irrelevant. Plus 15 round fights are garbage anyway. Hell, even 12 is way too much. Matches should be 5 rounds tops and no winning on points, only by KO. If neither gets the KO, neither gets paid. That will stop the tappy taps and running.

Yes, he's become more and more overrated.
Lewis beats the crap out of him.

Why ? Cause you say so ?!
Lewis is more than capable of KO'ing him. But if Ali runs, sure, Lewis ain't KO'ing him.

Liston was over 40 years old and slow. He barely trained and had a shoulder injury.
George was slow and punched himself out in the heat of Zaire. He did not manage to land a single clean power punch on Ali's face.
Shavers was bang average at best. He only landed 2 or 3 clean power punches but stood there like an idiot afterwards instead of capitalizing, thus allowing Ali to recover. He still won the fight, but was robbed by the judges.
Lewis was better than all of them. More skilled, bigger, stronger, even a bit faster. He'll have no problem landing on Ali.

Holyfield was far more skilled than Ali, it ain't even close.

Only in your dreams. Lewis destroys him.
