Roll the dice - Dubois vs Joshua 2

Ok, well all that considered why does a top level fighter need “a run out against a bum” ?
Im not questioning the transparency around the decision to fight these guys but the actual need to do it in the first place

 

You don't get dominated like that and win a rematch......................This isn't a case where it was ultra competitive and Joshua wilted before Dubois, he was absolutely deer in the headlights dominated. Ain't no point for a rematch.

fortunately for his own health, so has AJ. He’s not going to fight Dubois again.

he likely won’t hold a belt again. But he can still earn big. And I can’t wait to see what happens with the Fury fight. Is Usyk himself going to be in AJ’a corner? (I mean, who can give better advice on how to beat Fury?) I’d love to see AJ come out round 1 looking a lot different, with new tricks, surprise the hell out of Fury. That’s the whole point of this Rocky 3 reenactment isn’t it?

 

When Dubois fought Joshua there ring walks were very telling imo,Dubois was very confident,smiling and just acting chill as he waited for Joshua to make his ring walk. Even though Dubois was the IBF belt holder he entered first because Joshua was the A side and more established fighter, ( that ended well) Joshua on the other hand had that forlorn look like he had on his ring walks for Ruiz 1 and Usyk 1. Dubois’s confidence will be right up now after the Wardley win and would take the Joshua rematch in a heart beat ! As for Joshua he will be content to look forward to the mega money Fury fight and happy to forget all about any Dubois rematch .

 

The like of Chavez Sr was having a run out every week mate but nobody bats an eyelid. All your greatest fighters were having run outs all the time 70 years ago but now once you reach the top it’s fight the best only.

 

No version of AJ beats Dubois. DDD is a terrible style match up for him, as he has the same level of physical ability to match AJ whilst also having the far superior jab and general fluidity. Not to mention he has no aversion to fouling and mauling which would mess with AJs more fragile mental state.

DDD beats AJ 10 times out of 10.

 

Davison verbatim asks AJ to bring up the uppercut which McGuigan instantaneously recognizes as horrific advice that will get AJ KO'ed by Dubois which happens exactly as McGuigan predicted within moments of saying it.

Honestly the whole entire gameplan by Davison for AJ was horrible from the start and could have been entirely deconstructed from the top down by McGuigan in exactly the same way. Nothing was effective.

 

AJ had been knocked over 3 times at that point. Its a bit like yeah keep doing what your doing and keep getting bowled over until the ref steps in or take a gamble and try get yourself back in the fight.

Bearing in mind we watched the first Ruiz fight. Pretty sure Rob Mckrackens advise wasnt roll the dice. What happened? He kept getting bowled over until the ref stepped in.

He very nearly did get himself back in the Dubois fight as well.

I understand what Mcguigan was saying but lets be real. Mcguigans advise was pretty much getting him stopped as well.

Hes saying that will get him knocked out in a fight he,d already been down 3 times before the 5th round in. The writing was pretty much on the wall regardless.

The difference in the two advises was really a case of having a 245 lb heavyweight who can punch and running the risk of getting stopped without taking a gamble with that 245 lb heavyweight who can punch.

 

Davison. Asked. AJ. To. Throw. The. Uppercut. That. Literally. Caused. Him. To. Get. Knocked. Out. Moments. Later.

McGuigan explains on the spot why that was such a dangerous punch to look to throw against Dubois which Davison didn't know because he's a damn fraud who gets all his boxing advice from a youtuber who has never boxed a day in his life. Absolute imposter the lot of them.

 

Dubois verse the winner of Fury AJ would make sense.

 

Mcguigan predicted he,d get knocked out in a fight he,d already been sprawled over the canvas 4 times. The best punch Joshua landed all night was the punch that hurt Dubois leading up to him getting knocked out. His next 3 best punches he landed we,re infact.....uppercuts. Go watch the first round again. Joshuas best punch of the round was an uppercut.

Davidson told him to throw an uppercut. It wasnt the uppercut that was the problem. It was the fact Joshua threw the thing from miles out of range.

The real problem was Dubois has the much better jab. The faster hands. The faster feet add to that Joshuas far too slow going backwards. What exactly is your or Shaynes game plan for Joshua. To win the battle of the jab? A battle he,d never win against Dubois.

The truth is Joshuas best chance of winning that fight once he lost the battle of the jab was trying to pot shot Dubois. To hurt him with a big single and back him up. He actually only got any kind of success with single pot shots. Either the lead right hand or the uppercut. He lost the battle of the jabs early and was getting backed up off the follow up.

His options we,re pretty limited when Davidson gave him the advise....keep getting battered and backed up off the jab. Or try catch Dubois with something big. The second one left him with a better chance to turn the fight around....but more open to getting knocked out/stopped. The second one gave him less chance to turn the fight around...in a fight he was on the verge of getting stopped in.

We get it Davidsons never boxed. By the same token tho Mcguigans boxing career was a 2 or 3 year amatuer career.

I actually think Davidsons advise isnt the problem. Hes not actually a bad analyst. His big problem is hes trying to win fights off his tactics/analysis too much at the expense of preparing his fighter for a proper fight. When a fight broke out Joshua wasnt prepared properly for it. Wardley the same.

Dubois looks like he,d always win the battle of the jab against Wardley/Joshua. If your not winning the jab....and you,ve got a man thats stiff what exactly is your gameplan? Fighter limitations and lack of proper fight ready training is the bigger problem for Davidson.

Mcguigan gets his fighters ready for a fight outwith the tactics side of the game. Don Charles the same. Davidson does not. Hes got say the inferior boxer....with a decent gameplan considering their the inferior boxer...getting messed up because its actually too much analysis/tactics at the expense of getting the fighter ready for an actual fight breaking out.

Thats his bigger flaw.

Cope with what exactly? I m not a fan of Davidson or Joshua. But roll the dice wasnt the worst advise in a fight where he clearly lost the battle of the jabs and he,d been sprawled over the canvas 4 times already. Everyone thought the ref had stopped the fight the round previous.

Your 6 foot 4. 245 lbs and can punch. My advise would have been the exact same as well at that point.

 

No, AJ vs Wardley would be better, Wardley's at least floored Dobois and put up a better fight, he took Dubois punches far better than AJ did.
