YET ANOTHER way to describe how awesome Usyk is.

Usyk is using his minion Dubois to get him all the resume filler 0's, bringing them to him 3 at a time. Two more top 10 0's and you can fight Usyk again, Daniel.

 

I don't care if his name is Muhammed I'm hard Bruce Lee nobody is beating Usyk.

 

Usyk is, to be fair, one of the greatest heavyweight amateurs of all time. Wardley had like 9 white-collar fights. I think, with the blinkers off and Dubois' amateur pedigree, it really wasn't as much of a 50/50 as everyone thought going in, including myself. I only backed Dubois at the final hour. Wardley drew with Frazer Clarke over 12 rounds. It's a good win for Dubois, but I don't think it significantly boosts Usyk's stock - everyone knows he's the best HW, and it's not close. I still think Itauma eviscerates Dubois.

It was clear going in what Wardley was and what he wasn't. He drew with Clarke but KO1'd him in the rematch, maybe ending his career at a serious level. He one shotted a talented boxer in Huni while way down on the cards. And came slightly from behind to stop contender and former titlist Parker. Clarke and Huni were both undefeated amateur bronze medallists. In these fights, Wardley had shown serious power and heart, good athleticism and against Dubois he showed an excellent chin.

Dubois now has four notable wins by my count (undefeated Miller, undefeated Hrgovic, former titlist Joshua, undefeated titlist Wardley), three as the underdog, all by stoppage. Joshua didn't want a rematch after suffering a career worst beating. Dubois is now a 2x titlist and there is a good chance he is on his way to the HoF.

So naturally, Usyk's wins over Dubois have aged extremely well. I don't think there is a fighter in boxing history with 6 HoF wins back to back to back.

 

Yeah, that's fair, it dilutes it slightly when it's 3 guys who he rematched, but I get your point. Dubois is definitely HOF now, I think, after that weekend and adding the WBO to his IBF win against Joshua and becoming a 2x champion, he's now been part of multiple exciting PPV events. He's always in great fights and gets a lot of unfair stick from casuals and fans who follow the sport more closely. Myself included. I put my hands up.

I've been far too critical of Dubois in the past and totally underrated his skill set, and I was wrong. I do think the Wardley win is still slightly overblown, but Dubois is definitely HOF now in my opinion, and deserves an easy defence before taking on another major contender or champion.

 

Wdym lol, Dubois went on a crazy run before Usyk smashed him the second time. Wardley does raise Usyks stock like crazy, but it’s not like Usyk caught a green Dubois who improved vastly, he beat a prime Dubois.

 

Dubois was not considered an amazing defense prior to their first fight. Warren pushed him hard, he lost to Joyce, and looked shaky against Lerena. He far exceeded his then status since then obviously.

Amount of people threatened by Usyk here is funny. Loma was overrated, GGG was overrated, Usyk over delivered and is underrated to this day.

 

It would have been impressive enough if Usyk had gone in there against a surging Dubois, 11 years his junior, and just outpointed him. But did Usyk do that? No. He beat Dubois at his own game. Beat him up for 4 1/2 rounds and then sparked him. That's absolutely nuts. This old man got in the ring with a 6'5 250 pound built like a brick outhouse dude in his absolute prime and smoked him like it was nothing while hardly getting touched.

Maybe someone can think of a more impressive victory at HW where an old man smoked a top level, bigger guy in his prime and made it look like a cakewalk, but I can't.
