I really don't like this. It feels like they are trying to distract from their own incompetence and complete lack of care for their fighter. There was every chance as the fight went into the late rounds that Fabio could've slumped in his corner and never woke up again. Ben Davison apparently didn't even see Wardley stumble out of the corner in the 10th. That is inexcusably incompetent.

this this this. They sent their man out there with a plan of “just throw wild haymakers”, and then once a boxing match broke out in round 4, they had no idea what to do. And let their man STUMBLE into a round? Jesus, that’s like an automatic towel throw the second that happens.

Wardley should rightfully fire them and seek a team who will, you know, train him. And look out for him.

    What a load of tosh

Foster it could be argued at times gave Fabio every chance to win that fight

agreed. Although that tends to not happen with heavyweights because they aren’t doing the weight cutting and dehydrating. Especially Wardley who is consistent as hell, weighs basically the exact same every fight — I doubt he’s even doing any weight cutting in camp. He fights at 243, probably walks around at 243, that’s just his set point if he stays fit.

I’d say Foster is incompetent but there is clear intent in the way he applies the rules differently depending on the situation.

The guy defines what a British stoppage is about when it helps the house fighter but nearly lets Fabs get Drago’d.

Were they so vocal of the officiating when he fought Parker and Huni? For the record, I had no problem with either stoppage, but many did....

Boo goo battered by the better man

Plodding around is not the meta at heavyweight. Fury broke the myth that all these super heavies are lumbering stiffs and Usyk showed that supreme skill can still top a size disadvantage. Dubious got his face jabbed off by Joyce remember...who is a plodder himself. Plodders are out. Movers are in.

Wardley could have fouled him back and , this is the biggest factor, not eat power punches to the head. The other glaring issue was did Wardley only know how to throw a wild overhand right ?

They have rematch. Instead of crying about it do the rematch. I don't see the outcome changing.

I've thankfully never seen a fight live where something like that has happened, but that was definitely the first time I genuinely feared for someone's life in the ring. I don't like to see someone getting beaten to a pulp like that, I don't care how big of a knockout punch they have, I don't care what a chin they have, and I don't care that they're the champion... that should have been stopped so much earlier. Seen doctors stop fights for so much less. And I'm still fearful for what a beating like that has done to Wardley's health long term. It's left a sour taste in my mouth for what should have been one of the best heavyweight title fights in history.

Also, I thought it was notable that the crowd booed when the rematch clause was mentioned. That says it all.

This is how you deal with biased referring, "cheat" back in the same manner, but these subtle rule breaks are actually a skill in boxing that some fighters can't execute.

This,,,,,, I was surprised how bad Wardley looked skill wise , I've seen fighters do a better job of setting up right hands in tough man contests and if putting your fighter in harms way when he wasn't properly trained isn't enough, letting him be beaten to within an inch of his life was! I started getting on the edge of my seat late in that fight as he was being pummeled , because for the 1st time in a quite a while watching boxing the thought came to me, this guy is actually going to get killed. You could very well have seen a Doo Koo Kim or Johnny Owen situation unfold. . Hopefully aspiring boxers will avoid Davison like the clap and the ref needs to be forced to watch the replay of this fight and explain what in the hello he was doing, allowing a fighter to stagger coming out of his corner!...

His fight against Hyrgovic was some of the most blatant cheating I've ever seen.

Yes. And the corrupt referee ignored it.
