Itauma set to face Hrgovic in August

Banana skin written all over it. If Itauma wins this more convincingly than Dubois he should get a shot at the belts

Idk about you, but I'd much rather see Itauma against a guy who didn't lose to Otto Wallin.

In all seriousness though, I'm assuming they want to go down the WBO route and Hrgovic is the easiest pathway to an actual title that's currently vacant, potentially setting up a unification bout with Usyk in 3 fights time.

 

2 overrated hype jobs like most heavyweights and boxers. Win a world title then hype them. There's 10 world champion boxers according to boxing fans. The only real champion is Usyk

 

Really solid step up for a 21-year-old prospect. Hrgovic has been beaten once on cuts because he was headbutted 97 times by Dubois, and is genuinely a top 10 guy. I have him at number 10. It also depends on how he looks at the weekend. If he is already overlooking Allen, then he could look woeful and coast to a close UD win, which takes the potential shine off an Itauma fight. If he schools Allen (which he should), then I don't see how anyone can have a problem with this fight. I also think he gives Itauma rounds, and takes him the distance if he doesn't get cut.

 

The WBO was contested last weekend?

 

Im not sure tbh,what I’m getting at is that Warren threatened legal action against the WBA to force Pulev to defend against Itauma. The Pulev v Gassiev fight went ahead on the condition that the winner was ordered by the WBA to fight Itauma next,Gassiev as the winner was ordered to fight Itauma.Now Itauma's Team are apparently looking for the Hrgovic fight next which is odd considering that Hrgovic is fighting this weekend and anything could possibly happen,but Gassiev the fighter who was ordered to fight Itauma is free and not tied to any fights. Does Itauma’s Team think that Gassiev is a bigger risk to Itauma’s 0 ? The Gassiev fight is sitting there but there now allegedly going in another direction .

 

Great match up infact I think it's the perfect step up for Itauma.

Hrgovic is solid but not upper echelon level so it's a very winnable match up for Itauma.

But Hrgovic is durable and a legit top 10 Heavyweight so if Itauma can stop him that's a big statement.

And if Itauma is extended into the later rounds that's also good for his learning process

So it's a win/win for Itauma unless he gets upset of course which I don't see happening.

 

I have just replied to Wizbit the same as what I would have replied to you,but can also add. If they want to go down the WBO route and it being the easiest route then Itauma sitting as WBO mandatory puts him right in the driving seat for a Dubois fight . So with Itauma already sitting as WBO mandatory then a win over Gassiev who holds the WBA regular belt would put him mandatory to Usyk .

 

There’s plenty of risk with this. What if Ituama has a weak chin? Throwing him in with the guy with the most accurate right hand in the division… that could go poorly. What if Ituama loses his cool when things get rough? Filip can make that **** real rough.

I do think it’s the perfect fight for Ituama, but there’s real risk there.

 

I'm not that sold on Hrgovic's power at world level TBH.

He hasn't made that much impression with his power against any real notable Heavyweights.

Even Dubois walked through all of Hrgovic's right hands without ever really being hurt or wobbled.

Hrgovic's best asset is his chin which is rock solid so if he can extend Itauma late into the fight we'll see what Itauma's stamina is like.

But as for power ? I don't really think Hrgovic's power will trouble Itauma unless he's packing glass of course which we don't know for sure.

 

Vacant is probably the wrong word, but a more available title than waiting in line hoping Usyk starts defending against mandatories again.

A fight against Dubios is theoretically far easier to make than waiting for the WBA mando to be called in any case.

 

Pretty much back of the line though. Itauma would have more leverage against Usyk holding the WBO should he go on to fight Dubios after Hrgovic.

 

Would be a big sign that Moses is every bit as good as their saying. Looks like he could be anyway with what we,ve seen so far. But you dont stick a 21 year old in with Hrgovic unless you either know something we dont about Hrgovic or the one your sticking in with him is the goods.

Hrgovic isnt a world beater. But hes a solid fighter that you wouldnt tend to risk your next best thing with unless your certain your winning that fight. Any 21 year old thats certain to beat Hrgovic is going to be a top fighter thats for sure.
