Wardley activates rematch clause with Dubois

Regards scoring single knockdown rounds I’ve always thought of it this way;

10-8- A round that was won by a fighter who also knocked their opponent down, or a close round in which a fighter scores a knockdown.
10-9 - A round where the fighter scores a knockdown but loses the round based on general scoring criteria.
10-10 - A round where a fighter scores a knockdown, but either suffers one themselves, or is dominated to such an extent that the significance of the knockdown is nullified completely.

It irritates me that people throw 10-8s at people that land a flash knockdown in a round they are losing handily. Eg Rd 12 of Fury v Wilder 1, or (forgive me) Rd 8 of Fury (Tommy) v Paul.

 

A jab doesn't need to do damage to be effective (see Fury), and it can still disrupt your flow. Try it in sparring it works wonders by mixing them up a bit.

"Gung ho from the get go" definition:
Gung Ho: Extremely enthusiastic, eager, or dedicated, sometimes to an excessive or uncritical degree.
From the Get-Go: From the very beginning or start.

Which imo, is essentially what he did the first time and it backfired. He needs to be patient, use his speed and pick his shots rather than bullrushing in there and getting his face punched in.

DD also fouls a lot which to me spoils this perception that he's somehow a good "all round fighter". All he does is throw 1-2 and fouls when on the inside. I reckon Wardley learns a few lessons, and comes in determined in the rematch to stop Dubios. We know he can knock him over, it won't take much more to keep him there.

 

He used his gloves to rub on cuts too, pushed on Wardleys wind pipe with his forearm etc. I'd suggest watching it back because it's blatantly obvious what he's doing and it contributes. Even if Wardley was on his way to losing anyway, it doesn't excuse it.

Also, getting tackled onto your back by a guy whos 260 pounds absolute takes a bit out of you. Where do you think all that force winds up?

Wardley needs to jump on DDD within the first 2 or 3 rounds if he wants to win. Use some combination punching, which he failed to utilise just after the knockdowns, for a possible stoppage. No more single right hands.

I literally can't see any other way for him to win this, especially past the first 3. There is absolutely no way for him to technically level up in the time period to deal with Dubois' amazing jab, so outboxing is off the table. If he can't get it done quick we'll see an even worse repeat imo.

It works for Fury alot more because of the type of fighter he is
Dubois isn't that style what's so ever so that doesn't work for me

Anyway let's see how successful Wardley is if he does adopt the approach you believe will be successful

The point is that a jab doesn't have to be powerful to be effective. Otherwise, Dubios should have made short work of Usyk.

I listed the meaning of "gung ho" because you weren't using it correctly. You may have a different take of that meaning, but that's going to cause confusion when there's a universal understanding as to what a word or phrase means.

You can't take me seriously because I think cheating takes away from a fighters perceived ability? If he was as good as everyone is claiming, he wouldn't have to cheat. Why he's getting a pass for this is beyond me.

He's also not as good as everyone seems to think he is. People are just overhyping him like they did with Joyce when he stopped Parker, and we all saw how long that lasted.
