Someone who beats the top 4 heavyweights and then some such as 7 more ranked opponents is going to have a better resume than someone who only beats the top 4.

Dubois has lost before, and he isn't on track to being a great as the talent pool gets stronger. None of these guys are proven greats

David Surov is going to surpass Usyk 100%. David Surov will take his crown as the greatest European heavyweight of all time

Not if those seven together only amount to footnotes. Usyk doubled up on the best guys, and now no one can claim, "different fight, different night."

Usyk knows what he is doing. Your argument is dead in the water.

    10+3=13

    10 by itself is 10

This mathmatics is why Lennox Lewis has a better heavyweight resume than Usyk. Usyk has beaten the top 3 heavyweights but none of them have all time great resumes. So yes, someone who beats the top heavyweights and then a bunch of other contenders will have a better resume than someone who just beats the top heavyweights

No, because two fights against the best are two fights against the best, and count as better than a fight against the best and one against a middling guy.

The crying about the rematches is dead with Dubois' win.

More like 10 middling guys and 2 fights against the best, so the math says Lennox has the better heavyweight resume

At heavy, Usyk has six wins against the second, third and fourth best heavy of the era. That is all.

Lennox has a much deeper heavyweight resume than Usyk by any metric

If you are trying to count Dubois as being part of the era you have to count Itauma who will likely turn out better than him

He also has more losses and didn't have victories at an older age than Usyk.

That doesn't make sense at all.

It's not really an argument about Lennox, per se. You could start to make that comparison, because despite the depth...

    1. Lennox's best were washed up Tyson and Holyfield.
    2. Lennox had losses
    3. Lennox had fights that arguably should have been looses (Mercer)
    4. A lot of that "depth" is guys like Briggs, Golota and Grant, that have not aged well.

I don't really have a problem with saying that on the balance, Lennox is a ahead. The point is really that Usyk has made the right choices except for Verhoeven, and his greatness is not in any question.

Evander and Vitali were his best wins.

    Evander wasn’t washed up.

Mike was. Not many people give him any credit for that win.

It doesn’t matter if Lennox lost and had a few close calls.

That happens when you fight over 40 fights, against an array of different styles.

Usyk is a great fighter. But he’s only fought 6 HW’s in his pro career.

We have no idea what would have happened had he have fought significantly more, had he have moved up or turned pro earlier.

Boxing historians have rarely made an issue out of guys not rematching opponents they previously beat without controversy. Holmes, Lewis and Tyson rarely did it and haven't been penalized legacy wise so it doesn't seem like a smart move for Usyk.

Fury was past it when he faced Usyk and neither he or Joshua did anything subsequently so that doesn't seem like a compelling argument.

Not sure we're making it to 2029 to be honest...*gestures broadly at everything*

If we do the people who took that long to see how incredible Usyk is should be separated from a reasonable society as pure simpletons, to be studied and pitied.

He's done a lot but in the eyes of boxing experts, Joshua and Fury are going to go down as limited guys.

I think Usyk needs a win over Kabayel and Itauma. He has done everything required and already put himself up high and shown he can beat big heavyweights. The problem was that they weren't big skilled heavyweights. No Lewis or Bowe type. I think Kabayel has some good wins and brings a good pressure body attack and Itauma brings sp counter pressure style. A win over both of those guys would improve Usyks legacy quite a lot for me. Itauma and Kabayel have proven themselves as good tests. Usyk can't do anything about Itauma swerving him if that's the route they take.
