TYSON, Benn, Watson, so many over the years, can't really remember the many names, fighters and fights.

 

Lloyd and Barry were always entertaining to watch.
Honeyghan Beating Curry will always stay in my mind, massive upset.

Got me thinking, what was the bigger upset ? I know Curry was on the brink of superstardom, but lest we forget, Pedroza was a formidable champion, with a string of defenses behind him, Barry went in as a big underdog, as I remmember.

Hi mate, I'd say Curry.
He was seen as the next SRL , our Lloyd did a great job on him.
But good performance for Barry against Ped tho.

 

Not one of my personal favourites, but I always looked forward to AJs bouts. They were (and still are) huge events here in the UK and there was usually some kind of drama. I remember how shocking the Ruiz bout was.

Same for Froch, especially in Groves 2 which was also a big event here, with everyone debating what the result would be. Climatic would be an understatement! Loved watching that live as a teen.

 

Anything light heavy in that late`1970s-early ‘80s time period involving:

Matthew Saad Muhammad

James Scott

Marvin Johnson

Michael Spinks

Yaqui Lopez

And a cast that included Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, John Conteh, Dwight Muhammad Qawi, Victor Emelio Galindez, Mike Rossman and more.

Basically if there was a. 175-pound fight being televised in that time, you’d better be tuned in with your popcorn ready.

Also Pipino Cuevas and Wilfredo Gomez were fighters who were appointment viewing for me.

 

Tyson, Lewis, Naz. Also Roy Jones at his best as you knew he'd win, but it was sublime watching him go through the gears while doing it.

 

Ali, Tyson and Pacquiao. Those are the three men whose fights I highly anticipated regardless of the opponent.

 

Hearns and Tyson especially, among dozens of others. So many exciting events, so much talent and power. I was too young to see Ali's better fights. RJJ was good to watch for otherworldly abilities too. There was nothing like the build up and anticipation of peak Tyson fights tho, and he seldom disappointed. In his ten fight title stretch just two lasted the 12, and they were big men fighting very carefully, shockingly careful in Smith's case. All the rest were done before the 8th gong, 4 decimated inside 2 rounds.

Nowadays there's been some excellent heavyweight fights in recent years. Plenty of good matches have been made. Crawford's been good to watch, Inoue too. Canelo had a decent patch and showed some excellent skill latter career.

Always got extra pumped whenever the "Hit Man" was scheduled to fight!!
