I would say Lloyd gave us the bigger upset. As you said,Curry was on his way to becoming boxing's next superstar while Pedroza,brilliant fighter as he was recognised as,was past his best.

On board with the Curry win being the greater achievement, you say Pedroza was past his best, I mean he was only 29 and his last defense was a shutout against Jorge Lujan, a respectful challenger, needless to say he was on a long run of winning fights but not sure he was past his best, in the true sense of the word, it wasn't like he struggled with Lujan, just the opposite, it's a common refrain when a long standing champion loses his title, for sure there were many miles on the clock, but he looked in fine shape for the McGuigan fight, my estimation of the win would be Barry fought the best fight of his career, the constant pressure, the ever moving target, that style was just too much for the great champ to cope with imo, but I could be wrong, and you might be right, be interested in other posters thoughts.
