Has a new HW era begun, is this the Dubois/Itauma era?

I just don’t think that Dubois and Wardley have that aura about them to really sell fights. Itauma might if he keeps KOing people.

How? Wilder admitted to ducking him and you just said he would have fought Fury had Wilder not forced the third fight.

 

Tbf Joshua also admitted to ducking Wilder,truth be told fighters are not scared to fight each other,it’s the Managers and Promoters who put the road blocks in place to keep the big money rolling in whilst looking for the easier options.Just like recently when Hearn told us all Wilder was next,then changed his tune and decided a Wilder fight was too risky with the Fury fight on the horizon .

 

In this case, Wilder rejected many offers to fight AJ, while AJ only rejected the offer he didn't even know the details for.

 

It'll be a new era after Dubois/Itauma/Kabayel and anyone else making a claim, actually fight each other, and the winner makes defences.

If they all duck each other and/or fight once a year or so - it'll be no era at all.

 

He beat 3 ranked opponents. His career is far more memorable for who he didn't fight than who he did.

The era certainly wouldn't suffer much if he hadn't been around and it could have even been an improvement because the division wouldn't be held up with so many pointless fights

 

Would a stayed retired Fury have meant a higher likelihood of Wilder and AJ fighting at some point?

 

Maybe also guys like Kabayel, Zhang, Ajagba etc getting more opportunities

 

Wilder waited all of 2023 for Joshua ... as Hearn and Joshua kept saying Wilder would be next, then Joshua would sign to fight someone else ... Franklin, Whyte, Helenius, Wallin. You can go back to every pre- and post-fight interview Joshua/Hearn had that year, Wilder was ALWAYS going to be next, until they switched up the opponent.

Just like Joshua and Hearn said Wilder would be Joshua's "tuneup" this year for Fury ... and immediately signed to fight Kristian Prenga, whoever that is.

 

The UK is not yet the centre of the boxing universe, as much as locals feel that way. There are quality heavies coming up through the ranks all over the world.

Itauma is a youngster who may have a big bright future, but it is ridiculously early to be crowning him a world champion, and bringing youngsters along too quickly is a recipe for failure.

Settle darlings, what will happen will happen. We still have Opetaia talking of a HW move, and you can underestimate him at your peril.
