I'd say top 30 is about right. He has the size and skills to beat alot of notable smaller Heavyweights from the past who are simply too small so based on that alone he ranks fairly highly. But I'm going to list 20 random Heavyweights to show you that top 30 for Joshua isn't that bad for him. Because I don't think you could confidently say that Joshua would be a favourite over any of these fighters at their best. Muhammad Ali Mike Tyson George Foreman Oleksandr Usyk obviously Wladimir Klitschko prime Vitali Klitschko Larry Holmes Lennox Lewis Riddick Bowe Sonny Liston Joe Frazier Joe Louis Evaner Holyfield Tyson Fury Buster Douglas Tokyo Tim Witherspoon Ike Ibeabuchi Daniel Dubois obviously Pinklon Thomas
I’d worry for Frazier given the Foreman fight. AJ is a good bit bigger than Foreman, hits plenty hard. What’s stopping him from just shoving Frazier every time he gets close then throwing a right? He’s physically capable of reproducing the Foreman performances against Frazier.
I'll tell you the difference. Foreman had a very solid chin he was only floored 4 times in 80+ fights. Foreman destroyed Frazier yes but he had to take some single flush left hooks. If Frazier is landing those same left hooks against Joshua then he isn't just going to be able to walkthrough Frazier. If Ruiz who isn't really noted as a puncher had Joshua concussed after 1 left hook. Then I think Frazier's left hook would cause Joshua serious damage. Yes Joshua's size and power make him a threat to Frazier. But I don't think you could make Joshua a considerable favourite over FOTC Frazier. Here's Frazier's left hook in action need I remind you it was the best hook in Heavyweight history. This content is protected
I can find 30 fighters better than him. Sure AJ could beat historic fighters who are cruiserweights or smaller with diets of air, grass and cigarettes but that doesn't make him better than them. Not sure why im scrolling past posts talking about Frazier...AJ ain't got a damn patch on Joe Frazier...and if Fury wants to be lazy and not show up Frazier gives him a horrible wake up call. AJ is a basic plodder who avoids punchers and anyone who can give him pressure will gas him out and turn him into a pudding. He has a nice quick solid right hand that can put people over if they are there to be hit by it. but so does Dubious whoopty do. Dubious small brain confidence though which AJ lacks. AJ would better if he treated his lead hand as his main weapon, same with Dubious. Atleast Wlad knew jab and grab was his game but boxing is too diverse for big stiffs to rule anymore thankfully. Fury started a new era which Usyk put to a close both ATG's. Now we're just left with what decline follows because I don't see us getting another generational heavyweight again so quickly. Ituama is very good almost a natural if that's even a thing but we haven't even had him chin checked yet.
Top 30-40 ish... Excellent power, decent technically, okay gas tank, okay ring IQ, okay chin, recovery could be better. He's a solid enough champion, but there have been plenty that could take advantage of the weaknesses of him.
If he's outside 50, it's not going to be by much... It's not really a precise thing, but I wouldn't say quite that many. There'd be dozens more than would've beaten Wilder, including Joshua himself. They're not in the same kind of region at all when it comes to this kind of thing.
