I watch women combat sports aswell But you took it oit of context, man is old school. What he said is right though.
The game of boxin is not what it used to be. GGG Tank Crawford Charlo Spence Loma Canelo decline Inactive or retired fighters. Now some are coming back. Boxing needs Loma.
Yeah, it's not great. Obviously, there are some very talented boxers out there, but the inactivity and avoidance of certain fighters / styles means that many fighters will not attain the level of performance that they should. Fighting once or twice a year and avoiding your main rival for years until you are both past your peaks does not raise one's game. Top boxers today are going to be retiring with poor records. Very few fights. One, maybe two, elite opponents on their resume. God knows how these guys are going to get into the Hall of Fame or expect to be considered as ATGs. Turki throwing around his money in recent years has helped make some good fights, but it's few and far between, and probably won't last forever. The years from Mayweather retiring to Turki showing up were abysmal in regards to fighter activity and the best not fighting the best. We had a consensus top three at heavyweight with Fury, AJ, and Wilder, and only Fury and Wilder fought. Fury then strung Usyk along for a couple of years. Bivol v Beterbiev was years too late (still great fights, but Beterbiev shouldn't have been 39/40). Bud v Spence was also years too late, and when we eventually got the fight it involved a post crash Spence who just wasn't the same anymore. Canelo v GGG was too late. Don't even get me started on the Charlo's and their activity rate of one fight per millennium.
While I agree that Jake Paul's notoriety baffles me, or rather is a sign of the stupid times we live in, at the end of the day it's still Mike Tyson. I don't think people will ever not tune in for him, he made me watch that **** show with Paul that I was sure I was going to regret and welp, I did. Because he's Mike Tyson.
“Things aren’t what they used to be" - said every old head in every decade of every century in the history of the world, lol.
I tried to tell you. That's the creme of the crop best in the division and world losing to a kickboxer? Heavyweight division is stacked? Stacked with overrated has been. Two champs have lost to cross codes.
Welterweight and middleweight have been appalling barren deserts. Those divisions need to be the glamour ones along with heavyweight. We have had a fun heavyweight era post Klitschko, time will tell how it stacks up to the past.
