Despite Giyasov's amateur pedigree and accomplishments, Catterall was the more skilled of the two. This is someone who has sparred Mayweather and Canelo and should have been the undisputed champion. He clearly has gotten better after since he moved up. Although it is rather bittersweet to win the Regular title, hopefully he fights Romero for the full version and be qualified as a real champion. In a way, his career trajectory reminds me of that of Lucas Matthysse. He also won the Regular belt after a career campaign at 140.

 

Catterall just has such an ugly style imo. He's so negative, he fades late, and his feet aren't overly impressive. He only ever does enough to win but you never get the sense that he's properly in control of the fight.

I'm not saying Catterall is an exciting fighter but give him his dues quite alot of people expected him to lose this fight.

Interesting fight with Romero. Catteral the better boxer but Romero has speed and power.
