I actually think Usyk should rematch Rico.

 

I’m not a fan of that stoppage. A few more seconds and it would’ve probably been okay, but one of the consequential shots landed in the final sequence was well after the bell.

If I’m playing devils advocate, I’d say it was likely Usyk would’ve got the stoppage in rd 12, but that’s ifs/buts/maybes. He was off tonight, he was too heavy, and his legs didn’t seem fully there. If I was delusional I’d say he was playing possum to bait Kabayel into thinking he was done. But I’m not. So I won’t.

As a massive Usyk fan, I feel bad for Rico to be honest. But Ade has completely ballsed this post-fight interview up.

**** no. There is no way Kabayel can replicate this performance. Kabayel is quite literally a plodder in comparison to Rico, and Rico´s footwork was the main reason why he was so successful here.
Usyk excels when he can faint and outwork his opponents, but Rico did took that and did it to him instead. Kabayel is basically to opposite of Rico.

Kabayel is a good fight, and a dangerous one for Usyk, but he cant perform the way Rico did - that is my point.

Usyk looked poor, turned it on and found a way to win at the end but the stoppage is controversial.

Worthy of a rematch, would also love to see Rico against someone like Wardley or Dubois.

 

Get glasses. Usyk won 2-3 rounds before the 11th. He was getting out worked and bullied most rounds.

 

Usyk was ahead after that 10-8. I almost guarantee it.

This awkward three way conversation is exactly why the stupid referee should have let him come out for the 12th and we may have got a more concrete answer as to what comes next.

 

The one thing you can say is Usyk is good at lifting when he knows he's behind.
