Oleksandr Oleksandrovych Usyk vs. Ricardo Verhoeven & Frank Sanchez vs. Richard Torrez Jr. RBR.

Why is Usyk a disgrace, blame the ref not Usyk. Verhoeven was done, his gas tank was empty and he was badly hurt. Usyk would have finished it in the 12th and it's a shame we didn't get to see it because now we have this controversy hanging over it.

 

Mate, I don't think you understand what I'm getting at. I'm talking about a general stylistic issue, not about Usyk specifically although it does effect him because he was literally taught and raised in that system and has used those stylistic components his entire life, so any vulnerabilities to that style will also be his vulnerabilities at any point of his career.
Usyk's style hasn't fundamentally changed much due to his age. He's never added much of an inside game (didn't need it against current crop) or had to trade with guys who punch with him. All that's happened is that his legs have slowed somewhat and he has gotten a bit heavier, as you've said. This actually helps illustrate my point as, from what we've seen tonight, when Usyk can't constantly keep on his legs he can be forced to fight up close which he is not good at. I literally said this in my previous posts.

 

See, this is the type of nonsense that makes me hate boxing sometimes. Usyk did nothing wrong here. He looked old, sure, but he was hurting Rico plenty. Then, after blasting him down in the 11th, the ref gave Rico thirty seconds to recover while they put his mouthpiece back in. You don't stop action like that for a mouthpiece. It's also not Usyk's fault the ref waved the fight off when he did.

Peter Fury already said Rico wasn't making it back out for the 12th. That's Rico's own trainer saying that. So how is Usyk a disgrace? He's 39 years old and he finished a roided to hell and back giant. Looked poor, but that happens plenty in boxing.

 

This clown was a kickboxer with 1 win against a bum. Usyk is as big as a joke as Fury against that mma guy that AJ mopped the floor with.

 

A lot of folks threatened by Usyk here. Ali lost to Spinks at 36 when Spink was 6-0-1 lol. B b bu Usyk sucks! Ali is the goat!

 

I had Usyk up 6-4 before the knockdown. Would have been 7-4 with the KD and most likely multiple kds or KOs in the 12th. Rico is awkward asf and massive with a spoiler style. Usyk proved again he ll adapt and win no matter what the case is. Usyk was never the I’ll school you 12-0 guy he was the guy who wins no matter what.

 

What exactly did he do wrong? Besides being old and not looking at his best?

He had Rico about to go over in the 4th and then backed off him which was odd. Past that, he had a younger, much bigger, roided out dude in front of him fighting rough the entire time. Still put him out at the end. Not his best night ever by any stretch, but to call him a disgrace? That's just room temperature IQ casuals overreacting and being dumb.

 

He's human, he's allowed to get old overnight, it happens. Happened to Muhammad Ali, go have a look at some of Ali's late career performances they weren't pretty either.

 

1st Ngannou and then Rico.

You guys are starting to see your favorite boxers are just human beings who punch.

They are not any different talent wise than kick boxers and mma fighters. These cross over fights are proving time and time again, that boxing is just another combat sport , they could be bested by martial artist of other disciplines.

 

Come on. Ali was literally a sick fighter at that point.

 

Yet another embarrassment for the sport.
Usyk is old and clearly didn't take this fight as seriously as usual, so I don't think an Usyk from even two years ago would struggle nearly as much. But ultimately it won't matter. This is a P4P top 2 fighter who needed a come from behind early stoppage to beat a 1-0 kickboxer.

As I and many others have been saying for years now, fights like these only ever serve to hurt the sport. The boxer will under train thinking it'll be a breeze while the non-boxer will work themselves to the bone for the opportunity. Even when the boxers have won dominantly it has never been impressive. This will always be called an early stoppage just as Fury's win over Ngannou was called a robbery.

I've been a fan of Usyk for years but the way this fight went seems something like karma for him for taking this fight at all while passing up several more deserving challengers, and to his fanboys for defending the fight.

Inoue P4P 1, no more debate. and honestly after this Usyk may move down further on my list. Was immensely disappointed with Usyk for taking the fight and now even more disappointed with him for this performance.

I just hope that this discourages any more champions from taking these kinds of stupid fights.

 

He just lost to a kickboxer with one fight and got bailed out by a bs stoppage. He should have kod him in a round.. usyk is a disgrace and our sport looks like a joke.
