You haven’t watched it and you’re liking posts saying Jimmy Young would get destroyed by Verhoeven. Can you actually pretend to like the sport you’re on a forum for?

Or, how about process what you saw today a little bit better? Rico just gave the best heavyweight of the last 25 years all out hell. Young would not win against Usyk. If you think he would, you're insane. Rico is the greatest kickboxer that's ever lived, that requires boxing skill. It's not MMA, where guys are rolling around trying to have gay sex with each other. It's essentially what Holly Holm did to Ronda Rousey. The fact that he's been boxing his whole adult life and getting kicked in the head on top of that, highlights how tough he really is. Jarrell Miller was a kickboxer, Vitali Klitschko was a kickboxer. They clearly make the transition quite well. Well add one more to that list. He showed up with an incredible game plan, tailored to beat Usyk, and came damn close to pulling it off. Dubois isn't a bum, AJ is not a bum, Fury is not a bum. Rico it's not a bum.

When did I say Jimmy Young beats Usyk? But you know, you're right; a prime Young would definitely beat this version of Usyk. Vitali had only two years of amateur boxing and a lot of development fights, and Vitali doesn’t have an ATG resume anyway. He also struggled with Byrd, who was the Jimmy Young of his time. Miller, even though I’m a fan, is more of a physical obstacle—you could say the same about Ngannou and Rico—than a highly developed technician. He also had steady development fights. Kickboxing definitely builds boxing skills, but he has had only one boxing fight, ONE! Also, if you cannot be an adult and at least respect MMA, it shows immaturity as a boxing fan.

I do like your posts, but I'm sorry Rico will get KO'ed by Dubois in a one-sided beating akin to AJ vs Ngannou.

What a thoroughly casual fan take this is. Take the rose colored glasses off, stop being such a nostalgist. I hate all of this mythical matchups nonsense with these puny fat heavyweights from 70 years ago. It's childish and ridiculous. Most of those guys get obliterated by the likes of Bakole and Ajagba. I'm a logical realist, the genetic freaks of today carve through most of the old timers like a hot knife through butter. Athletes from the past don't age quite as well as movies do.

Boxing is a fight at the end of the day, and the likes of Rico or Ngannou are not just “good fighters”, they’re the absolute best of the best of their respective sports…

…and with their vast fighting experience, talent, and skill sets, they also bring an awkwardness that is out of the ordinary for world class boxers..

It’s not a surprise they can do well, especially at heavyweight when they come from sports where they’re better trained to impose their physicality and size.

If you’re gonna compare Ngannou vs AJ and Fury as a way to keep the Fury hate going - at least look into Ngannou’s pre-fight experience before the AJ fight….

I love Usyk, one of my favorites of all time, but the hype needed to get checked. He's a generational talent and great, but hearing people say he washes 80% of the top 10 best heavyweights of all time with little hesitation gets real old..

Jimmy young was a boxer with multiple wins over contenders. Rico is 1-0.

Saying Rico is the greatest HEAVYWEIGHT kickboxer would be a controversial take among kickboxing fans. Saying he’s the greatest kickboxer that’s ever lived is laughable and shows you know nothing of the sport.

I like how you call heavyweights fat. Small, yes, but “fat” is a recent phenomenon. Boxers, despite their skill, would go to war for 15 rounds.

Go to a kickboxing forum and debate all of the people who know more than I do, there certainly seems like a hell of a lot of them hold that opinion. But opinions are like assholes now aren't they? Just like the people that hold them.

Whatever! Yeah they went 12 rounds slow dancing with each other. Ali vs. Young is a horrible match. Most old school HW matches, and I've seen a ton of them, are horrid watches.
