Ok. So would you say Usyk is too old now? Is it embarrassing as a boxer well outside their prime to have a tough time with an opponent they would have made easy work of in their prime?

Stop being a prisoner of the moment. It's the worst quality in sports fans. They see an exciting sporting event, lose their collective minds, and act like that one event has forever changed the history of everyone involved and the sport itself.

Usyk's legacy is fine. He's 39 years old. That's ancient in boxing years, especially for a small HW. He had a bad night at the office. It happens to every boxer at some point. Usyk still managed to beat this dude up at the end and earn a stoppage. And this wasn't some couch potato or cab driver. It was a giant, roided out dude who has been doing combat sports since he was 5 and training boxing with the Fury family for the past 15 years.

Lennox Lewis got knocked out cold by two nothingburger journeymen. Nobody cares anymore and he's considered a Top 5 guy at HW. Ali got smoked by a rookie in Spinks and then went on to embarrass himself versus Holmes and Berbick. Nobody cares. George Foreman got embarrassed by Ali, lost to Young, came back and fought cab drivers for years, and then got smoked by Holyfield and Morrison. Guess what? Nobody cares about any of that. They just remember Old George knocked out Moorer and won the title at 45 years old.

In 20-30 years all anyone is going to remember about Usyk is that he was the European, World, and Olympic Gold medalist. That he blitzed through Cruiserweight to become Undisputed and win the Muhammad Ali Trophy. That he moved up to Heavyweight and beat up the super heavy giants to become the first Undisputed HW in 25 years. All while his country was being invaded. Nobody will remember or care about this goofy fight with a kickboxer. If it gets mentioned people will point out Usyk was ancient and still stopped this guy. End of story.

Yeah I don't get why people think it damages his legacy, this would have to happen before he does anything to make him special. It doesn't remove what he already did, nobody forgot what Jones Jr did before Tarver 2. Nobody thinks Djokovic doesn't have 24 grand slams because he can't beat both Sinner and Alcaraz in the same tournament at 40ish. Nobody thinks CR7 was a **** footballer because he struggle to do much but goal hang anymore. Usyk could get knocked out by every top 10 kick-boxer for ten fights, it wouldn't remove his achievements, it would affect his legacy from THAT point onwards, not his previous accomplishments.

I didn't expect him to win or be as competitive as he was but I knew he was far more dangerous than almost everyone credited him for being and that his combination of size, speed and athleticism alone posed a big risk for this old version of Usyk who has declined a great deal and especially in all speed related departments

He needs to take the rematch regardless and put this to bed because he was exposed somewhat. If it is age and he fades even more and loses then that's on him and his foolish team?

Saying he's better than 80 to 90% of the current Heavyweight field would imply that I hold his skillset in high regard now doesn't it? I knew he had a great chin and that he could be awkward as hell, so no... I wasn't surprised in the least. Especially considering unfocused Usyk has been broing out with AJ and showed up a tubby ****. BRO! You ****!

And yes, I'm absolutely factoring Usyk's age into this as I do before everyone of his fights at his age because he's already slowed down a lot. If Usyk was in his prime and as fast as he used to be with his super sharp reflexes and reaction times it would be very different but he isn't

People are acting like Rico's a tennis player or a snooker player or something with zero combat sport experience under his belt when he's one of the greatest kickboxers we've ever seen, hasn't lost a fight in 11.5 years, and in a sport where they throw extremely powerful kicks and punches (in the HW division no less) has only been stopped x 2 in almost 80 fights and that was way back when he was 21-22 vs massive punchers and he avenged both losses

I've seen too many combat sports athletes from other disciplines cross over into boxing and do better or much better than damn near everyone expects them to to completely write off their chances, let alone when they're an undefeated in 11.5 years fast athletic kickboxing GOAT with a huge size advantage facing a 39 y/o

Do I expect him to pull off a huge upset? No but he's a dangerous guy and I won't be surprised if he causes Usyk some problems and Usyk is still going to have to be wary of what's coming back at him

There's around 1300 active HW's in boxing at the moment, so if he's in the top 10-20% that makes him about 130-260 in the world.

Or are you trying to say he's better than 80 or 90% of the top 20 which is pure hogwash.

If you think Lewis looked bad refusing Vitali a rematch, it will pale in comparison to this.
