Marciano would’ve crushed Usyk

We shouldn't draw conclusions based on one bad fight, Usyk has the right to redemption, let him accept the Kabayel fight and let him convince us again...

 

I haven't seen the fight nor any highlights, I don't think I'll bother,

though in the past I have said, I haven't seen anything special beyond the norm in Usyk and judging by this post, I guess that still rings true...

 

After watching Marciano against Lastarza and Savold ,I conclude Usyk would make him look ridiculously slow ,crude , and amateurish.
Usyk would jab his head off for 4/5 rounds, turning his face into an advert for tomato ketchup,then he would begin landing his left straight down the pipe, and banging in those swift uppercuts from either hand.The referee would be forced to rescue a bloody Rocky inside of 7 rounds.

 

I don't want our boxing champions to take these freak show fights against fighters from other combat sports and I neve have done.

However if they must do it, can they at least take care of business please?

 

Usyk was rusty and he's not an explosive fighter and let's remember he's getting close to 40 - yes, he's only had 26 fights, but big fighters have never been a problem for him. Effective Pressure fighters can be a problem for him and awkward fighters. His toughest fights were in the Cruiserweight division. Chisora gave him a tough fight - He handled most of the big guys but none of them were easy fights.
When he went in for the kill, he dropped Rico and the corner tried to bide time with the mouthpiece, then he landed some good unanswered shots. Rico would have gotten stopped or possibly hurt in the 12th. Good argument for the stop as well as in the Fury fight (Tyson did have a history of coming back from disaster) but it would have been a fair stoppage.

Agit Kabayel is dangerous body puncher and the way he dismantled Shanchez, Zhang and others with body shots was impressive. Usyk has to see what he has left but A.K. is the only fight left for him. A very focused and fit Usyks can beat him but it's not a fight you walk into without a perfect strategy and fitness (AK will attack the body effectively) - old school body puncher is AK.

As far as past fighters, some of the greats would definitely be a challenge but that is all speculation and none of them would be easy among the greats.

I think Usyk could contemplate retirement - Lennox Lewis did and had a mega million rematch with Vitali on the table and everyone excepted it when he rejected it.

Money is not an issue - legacy and health are at this point.

Timing is everything and you must know when to hold em and when to fold em.

Of all the fighters out there, I would expect Fury to drop the ball. But Usyk?

 

He undoubtedly has skill, elite skills, but not so much that it magically separates him from previous ATGs that proved their HW prowess over more than a dozen fights, against a higher calibre of fighter/skill.

Personally, I have a belief that the likes of a Foreman, Tyson, maybe Frazier see him wince from a body shot and get sadistic with it.

 

The sad thing is that he made exactly the same mistake as Fury.

He saw the opportunity for an easy pay day, and did not show his opponent the respect that he should have done.

Men like Nganou and Verhoeven don't get out of bed in a morning to be someone else's easy pay day.

 

In many ways those men are tougher and just as athletic as the best boxers that they fight for the retirement fund.

Of course they will lose a boxing match against an elite fighter but take them lightly, these men strike for a living - you could get hurt.

The old gym adage reigns true - some of the most dangerous people to spar with are novices - they don't do things the proper way and catch you with things they're not supposed to throw.

 

How on Earth could Marciano do better than the far larger and far more skilled and far greater Briedis? It'd be impossible. This is pure fantasy.

 

And that is the message every championship fighter needs burned into their memory.

What I thought.

 

Usyk was just not Usyk. He is old now which happens to every fighter. He had no bounce in his step like he normally does. Hat off to Verhoeven was an interesting old school style for a big man. Lot of movement good jab. I knew he was gonna get timed eventually but he looked to have some real power. Wouldn’t mind seeing him again. I honestly think Usyk should retire and not do what every fighter does and fight to long and suffer long term damage. He has beaten the best of the era it’s good enough.

 

If Usyk can get back to 80% of where he was he has an easy night against Kabayel in my opinion.

 

Well he did have more than one professional boxing match.
