Who did you have winning before the stoppage: Rico Verhoeven or Oleksandr Usyk?

Usyk deserved to lose.

 

He is unsteady walking over yeah he’s just taken a concussive uppercut from a big man who knows how to render people unconscious and it’s round 11, it wasn’t anything overly alarming within the context of a boxing ring. He was definitely hurt the question is was he hurt enough to be prevented from seeing the next round?

105 - 104 Usyk at the time of the stoppage. I could see Rico ahead slightly but people parroting Coppinger's scorecard need to rewatch that one. There was a stretch of rounds (4, 5 and 6) that Usyk clearly won which he doesn't seem to be getting credit for. Agree it was an early stoppage but it seems likely Verhoeven was on his way to getting knocked out anyway.

 

Usyk had won maybe 2 rounds.

 

Round 5 I can understand but round 6 ? No that was definitely not a clear round for Usyk.

Round 6 was a close debatable round and according to the stats they both landed an equal amount of power punches.

So it's not an automatic clear round for Usyk even @CST80 who's a big Usyk fan was unbiased claiming the 6th round was close.

I could also see an argument for 105-104 for Rico as the 6th round was debatable.

But I haven't rewatched the fight and probably won't but without the excitement and shock factor I may score it a bit closer.

I also think Usyk would've scored the stoppage in the 12th round.

 

7-3ish for Rico before the 11th was my feeling. R11 would have been a 10-8 for Uysk ofc.

 

I had it 98-92 Rico and I love Usyk.

Ref simply thought he was doing a solid deed for boxing as he had to have thought Usyk was way behind also

 

just like he got to Fury when he had him badly hurt in the 9th of fight one.. Fury won rounds after it

 

I had Rico up 7 3 before 11 round

 

To me it seemed like Usyk controlled the 6th round with his jab and was the aggressor. Verhoeven didn’t land anything notable in that round, he didn’t do much of anything tbh. I could see maybe a draw round but I couldn’t give it to Verhoeven since he didn’t do anything.

 

Rico was knocked down twice in 11th round.

 

I don't think Usyk controlled the 6th round it was a very close round and numerous people scored it for Rico so it's not a minority opinion.

If you scored it for Usyk that's fine i don't disagree and it's a very debatable round that both fighters had an argument to winning.

But i wouldn't say Usyk definitely won the 6th round and likewise to Rico.

 

You’ve never seen any of his kickboxing bouts have you. He definitely could have survived the 12th

 

I had it 6-4 Rico going into the 11th. After the KD I would have had it even going into 12.
