Were does Oleksandr Uysk rank as a all time heavyweight?

That's pretty much it in a nutshell for me.

Usyk has had a quality run in his short run at Heavyweight.

But he lacks the depth and quantity for me.

I think Usyk needs 2 more wins over ranked contenders then I'd say he has a strong case for being in the top 10.

Beating Kabayel and maybe Hrgovic/Itauma winner would be very good for his resume.

Although at Usyk's age now I'm not sure if he's capable of doing it anymore time isn't on his side.

 

Precisely this - in my case you saw that Usyk is not in the Top 10, and in McGrain's case you didn't see the SAME (Top 3?). IMHO it's half censorship, half flattery.

Again, I learned to live with it; more precisely - I learned to live with much worse things. So there are no "hard feelings" from my side.

This. Age has caught up with him. Usyk's greatest attribute is his speed, footwork and creavivity. He's lost the first two and replaced them with power. He's clearly hitting harder than before but that doesn't make up for what he's lost. Lots of HW can hit hard. Kabayel + Itauma would indeed make an impression but he's looking old. Reminds me of Golovkin vs Murata. The loose, master boxer was replaced by a tank that had to power his shots through.

Also: Rico was much better than anybody expected. I knew he'd be tough, but not this tough.

 

I've said this a few times but do you know Usyk vs Rico reminded me of ? Ali vs Young.

Both Ali & Usyk were aging fighters who weighed in at a career hight weight of 230+ pounds and both looked sluggish at the weight.

I'm not entirely sure what Usyk has left TBH.

Was it the extra weight ?

Did Usyk age overnight ?

Was Rico better than we thought surprising Usyk with the unknown quantity factor ?

Alot of questions that will be answered in the next 6 months or so.

 

My list wasn't in the order mate it would give me a headache trying to do an exact top 10.

The only thing I am pretty sure of is that my top 5 would be... Ali, Louis, Holmes, Lewis, Marciano.

And then everything else is up for debate for me where I place the rest of the 5 Heavyweights.

Outside of the ludicrous position of Marciano, that's a reasonable list.

 

Two days ago, I had him at #3. Now he is somewhere between Courage Tshabalala and Bronco Billy Wright.

 

Beat all the top guys of his era twice and some top contenders too. Undefeated. That's a historical value right there.

 

Marciano should be #2 because he beat Joe Louis.
